Head of Strategic Planning and Follow-up Unit

Do you want to lead an organization that plays a central role in Sweden's total defense? Then you've come to the right place! For our newly established unit of strategic planning and follow-up, we are now seeking a manager who will build, lead, and develop the unit. Together with the finance and procurement unit, the unit forms the agency's management staff, working on areas such as business planning, follow-up, annual reports, budgeting, internal coordination and governance, and preparation. As unit manager, you will have personnel responsibility for approximately ten qualified employees, as well as budget and operational responsibility for the unit. You will report to the head of the management staff and be part of their management group. The position is located in Karlstad. Travel may be required for work. The Conscription and Assessment Agency does not offer remote work agreements, and work is expected to be performed on-site at the office. Your Responsibilities As head of the strategic planning and follow-up unit, you will be responsible for coordination, management, development, and follow-ups of the various activities within the unit. You are expected to lead the work within the unit and participate in daily tasks. The work involves a significant amount of administration, with a strong focus in the coming years on governance, management, and follow-up, as well as managing and coordinating various agency-wide issues over time. The work involves multiple parties and many parts of the organization, which means collaboration and cooperation are central to your role. You have an interest, willingness, and ability to support the organization and create networks. Your Qualifications The tasks require that you have: - University or college education deemed relevant by the employer - Experience as a first-line manager - Several years of experience as a manager with personnel, budget, and operational responsibilities - Excellent knowledge and ability to use digital tools and the Office package - Experience with financial follow-up, business management, budgeting processes, and reporting - Excellent spoken and written Swedish - Good spoken and written English It is meritorious if you have: - Experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams and staff functions - Experience in change management - Knowledge of agency requirements - Experience from similar work in total defense in a leadership position Your Personal Qualities We place great importance on your personal qualities.
