HR Department
Are you interested in leading experienced HR specialists and HR consultants in an organization where HR truly makes a difference? We are seeking an unpretentious, confident, and attentive leader who can balance strategy and day-to-day operations – and who leads through trust, clarity, and commitment.
Uppsala Region's Management Office is part of Region Uppsala, one of Uppsala County's largest employers. The Management Office is led by the Regional Director and consists of approximately one thousand employees. With a governing, supporting, and coordinating role, the Management Office is tasked with supporting the political leadership and administrative departments to ensure the political direction is implemented across the region's various operations. This enables Region Uppsala to fulfill its role, both regionally and nationally.
The HR Department at Region Uppsala is now seeking a Head of the Competence and Leadership function. This is an opportunity for those who want to contribute to shaping the future of HR work in a socially important organization. You will become part of a forward-looking and development-oriented unit working to strengthen Region Uppsala's operations in skills provision, leadership, and employee engagement.
Your Mission
As Head of Competence and Leadership, you will lead a unit of approximately 15 employees. The group consists of HR specialists with assignments in strategic skills provision, International Office, employer branding, security, and war-time placements, as well as leadership and employee development. Additionally, HR consultants work with temporary staffing and advertising support. In this role, you need to stand firmly in your mandate, be a clear voice for the group, and contribute to solution-oriented collaborations.
You have comprehensive responsibility for operations, employees, budget, and work environment. The role involves both strategic and operational leadership, where you contribute to developing the HR function's approach and support for the entire organization. You will report to the HR Director and be a member of the HR Department's management team.
Example Tasks:
• Lead and develop a group with diverse competencies and assignments
• Create structure, direction, and job satisfaction in an environment where strategic and operational needs intersect
• Guide complex issues and support employees in their roles
• Contribute to the overall perspective and ensure HR's work strengthens the organization's goals
Who Are You?
We are seeking candidates who have:
• Relevant university education in HR or equivalent
• Several years of documented experience leading strategic operations and personnel
• Experience working in and contributing to a management team
It is advantageous if you have worked in a politically governed organization.
Your Characteristics
You are a confident, trustworthy, and attentive leader who creates participation and drive through collaboration. You see the big picture, are curious and solution-oriented, and thrive in a role that requires both strategic thinking and operational work.
You have the ability to transform ideas and methods into concrete benefits and create results together with your employees. By involving rather than instructing, you promote competence exchange and collective responsibility within the group.
We Offer
A permanent full-time position with flexible working hours, starting by mutual agreement. At Region Uppsala, all managers and leaders play a crucial role. Through you as a leader, employees can grow and contribute to even better citizen service. We want to provide our leaders with the right conditions to succeed and therefore offer several leadership training programs. We offer benefits that make a difference, which you can read about here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
