Building Development Department - Building Inspector Position At the Urban Development Administration, we work to realize the vision of future Österåker, where a modern city with genuine small-town character meets a vibrant archipelago and countryside. We are seeking someone to join our team of 16 professionals with broad expertise and extensive experience. We are architects, building permit administrators, supervision officers, building inspectors, lawyers, administrators, and housing adaptation coordinators. As a building inspector, you are a central part of our team and responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with all laws, regulations, and technical requirements. You will work closely with property developers, contractors, and citizens, guiding them through the construction process. Your New Job We offer a stimulating, varied, and developmental position with significant personal responsibility. You will participate in the entire building permit process, primarily handling start and completion certificates. Your work includes conducting technical consultations, performing site visits, and providing service to both the public and professional construction companies in the form of advice and information. Some supervisory work under the Planning and Building Act is also included in the position. We work as a team with structure and routines where consensus is important. Your Profile You should have a relevant engineering education in urban development or another education we consider equivalent. We are seeking someone with many years of experience in the construction industry and/or as a building inspector. A driver's license (B-class) is required. You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, Planning and Building Ordinance, National Board of Housing, Building and Planning regulations, and the entire construction process. Knowledge of the Environmental Code and coastal protection is meritorious. A fundamental requirement is good IT skills and the ability to read technical drawings. We work in the case management system Nova/ByggR. It is important that you enjoy and are skilled at communicating via phone, meetings, in writing, and email. You have the ability to adapt your communication to the recipient's needs and situation. You are attentive in your interactions. You are positive, find solutions, and want to help.
