Building Permit Officer/Building Permit Architect

As an employee within the municipal planning department, you will influence the development of an attractive archipelago municipality. Together, we are responsible for all aspects related to urban planning, including operating libraries, maintaining streets, constructing new schools, ensuring the local outdoor swimming facilities function well, planning new residential areas, issuing building permits for new homes, and advocating for improved public transportation. Here, you will have excellent opportunities to develop in your role while having close support from colleagues and managers. **Description** The department consists of six units: the building permit unit, the planning unit, the development unit, the technical unit, the culture and library unit, and the SBF unit staff. A total of approximately 60 people work in the municipal planning department, of which 11 are in the building permit unit. The building permit unit is now looking to recruit a building permit officer/building permit architect. **Responsibilities** As an officer, you will be part of our friendly and strong team consisting of officers, inspectors, and coordinators. You will primarily handle cases according to the Planning and Building Act, but some basic knowledge of the coast protection laws and property matters from the land survey authority is necessary. A key part of your work will involve providing information and advice to the public. Your work will occur within a politically governed organization where you make decisions according to delegation and prepare and, when required, present cases for approval by the Municipal Planning Committee. As a team member, you will contribute to the development efforts of the department and the unit, fostering a continued positive work environment. As we are currently undergoing a process of change concerning our case management, we hope you are particularly interested and experienced in developing routines and working methods. The entire municipality is also engaged in a long-term digitalization process, making an interest in such matters especially valuable. **Qualifications** We are primarily seeking candidates with several years of experience in building permit handling. You should have vocational training as a permit officer, architect, or other education or work experience deemed equivalent by the employer. The position requires a deep understanding of the Planning and Building Act along with associated legislation and legal practices. It is also advantageous if you are familiar with Vaxholm's geography and/or have previously worked in Vaxholm municipality. We are looking for someone who is meticulous and structured in their work approach and thrives with a high degree of personal responsibility. You must be proactive in managing your cases and have a results-oriented work style. You possess the ability to quickly gain an overview and prioritize among your tasks and feel comfortable presenting cases to the Municipal Planning Committee for decisions. A valid B driver's license is required, and you must communicate effectively in both spoken and written forms. In your role, you need to be both clear and service-oriented in your interactions with Vaxholm's citizens, summer residents, and business owners, as well as other external and internal stakeholders.
