About this role
We are now looking for an experienced building inspector who wants to take on a key role in our dedicated team. With us, you will have the opportunity to combine qualified regulatory work with close dialogues with both citizens and professional stakeholders. This is an exciting assignment for those who wish to make a real difference in the municipality's development.
**Assignment**
As a building inspector, you will be a central part of our team, contributing to ensuring that construction projects are carried out in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and technical requirements. You will maintain close communication with builders, contractors, and citizens as you guide them through the entire construction process, providing qualified service and advice.
In this role, you will primarily handle supervisory cases, such as unauthorized construction, neglected properties, and traffic-hazardous vegetation. You will manage cases from notification to resolution, which includes investigation, communication, and decision-making. In addition to supervision, you will also work with building notifications as well as start and completion certificates within the building permit process. The work also involves holding technical consultations, conducting site visits, and providing support to both the public and professional stakeholders.
The position also includes preparing decision-making documents for the Building and Environment Committee and presenting and processing cases before the political body. You will collaborate closely with your colleagues, supporting each other throughout the case process.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for someone with a degree as a building inspector or equivalent education. Previous experience as a municipal building inspector is required, and we place particular emphasis on documented experience in supervisory work according to the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and the Building Regulations (BBR). A good ability to read and interpret drawings is also important.
You take responsibility for your tasks, remain calm in complex situations, and have an engaged, curious, and positive attitude. Your solution-focused approach will serve you well in a daily environment that, in your view, is characterized by opportunities rather than obstacles.
To thrive in this role, you should be attentive, communicative, and structured. You express yourself clearly in both speech and writing and have a strong sense of service towards both colleagues and external stakeholders. Since the position involves many points of contact, your ability to collaborate and your professional demeanor are of great importance.
A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
**Working Hours/Duration**
Permanent full-time employment.
Start date according to agreement.
**Salary**
Individual salary setting applies.
**Other**
With us, you have access to benefits according to our collective agreement, such as favorable pension and insurance, extra vacation days, and parental leave supplements. Additionally, as an employee of Svedala Municipality, you have access to 2000 SEK in wellness compensation, discounts with local wellness providers, a benefit bicycle, vacation exchange, and salary exchange for pension, as well as pension guidance. We apply flexible working hours and remote work, which means that you can alternate between working in the office, in the field, or from home, taking into account the needs of the organization.
