About this role

Ref: 20252495 Would you like to help shape the future of Malmö through qualified processing of building permit applications and providing advice on urban development issues? We are looking for an experienced and dedicated employee who thrives in a complex and socially significant environment where dialogue, design, service, and legislation come together to create an equal, sustainable, and beautiful city. With a holistic perspective, architectural sensitivity, and a feeling for Malmö, you will contribute to well-considered decisions and high quality in the city's built environment. Responsibilities As a building permit architect, you will work both independently and in a team, digitally managing building cases in accordance with planning and building legislation, prevailing practices, and Malmö city's guidelines. You will be responsible for processing both simpler and more qualified cases, based on your expertise and the needs of the organization. Your work is a crucial part of achieving the city's goals for sustainable urban development with high architectural quality. We want it to be easy to apply for building permits in Malmö. You will contribute by providing guidance and advice to ensure that applications are complete, correct, and legally secure—always with a service-oriented and professional approach. You will engage with people with respect, humility, and attentiveness, building trust in every interaction—whether in person, over the phone, or through digital channels. You will also participate in the department's development work, work on streamlining processes, collaborate with other departments, and help improve the quality of our service and increase customer satisfaction. If needed, you may also conduct investigations, prepare in-depth assignments, or participate in other urban development tasks. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, we see you as a person who plans and drives work forward, uses time efficiently, and works structured according to established frameworks. You maintain a clear and educational dialogue with colleagues, citizens, and construction professionals, aligning and adjusting your work in line with the organization's objectives. You understand what it means to work in a politically governed organization and act professionally in your official capacity. You see yourself as a natural part of improving the quality of our work and contributing to achieving our goals. You provide qualified advice and guidance in early stages—to both the public and construction professionals—regarding legislation, architecture, design, and cultural environments. With an understanding of what constitutes good architecture from a Malmö perspective, you communicate your knowledge clearly and pedagogically—both internally for the development of colleagues' competencies and externally to those seeking advice. You are responsible to yourself, your colleagues, and the customer, setting appropriate standards based on the work's requirements. As a person, you have a positive attitude towards the assignment, are self-driven and take initiative while also being collaborative and unpretentious. With creativity and a solutions-focused mindset, you see opportunities and are open to development and change. You actively contribute to our shared work environment and pleasant workplace atmosphere.
