Business Controller - Public Sector

We are seeking an experienced and committed Business Controller for an exciting assignment in the public sector, where you will work both strategically and operationally with financial management for two community-oriented activities. The role involves a central part in creating structure, insight, and long-term sustainability in the economy – with the goal of contributing to welfare and quality for the municipality's residents. About the Assignment In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and driving budget and forecast processes, conducting qualified analyses, and supporting managers and management with decision-making documentation. You will work closely with the operations while collaborating with central finance and controller functions. The workplace is distributed across two administrative departments, and you will have your base at two different offices in a central location in the Stockholm area. Primary Work Tasks - Coordinate and drive budget, forecast, and follow-up processes - Conduct qualified analyses and prepare decision-making documentation - Support managers with financial follow-up and operational analyses - Monitor key performance indicators, quality, and resource utilization - Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements - Responsible for reporting to management and committee - Collaborate with the central finance department and other controllers - Actively work on developing financial management and improving workflows Qualifications – Must-Have Requirements - University degree in economics, public administration, or equivalent - At least three years of experience as a controller, preferably from municipal or regional operations - Excellent knowledge of Office suite, especially Excel (pivot, formulas, reporting) - Experience with major decision support systems - Ability to work independently, structured, and with high precision - Pedagogical and communicative – able to explain economics to non-economists Meritorious – Preferred Requirements - Experience with internal control and contract follow-up - Experience with politically governed organizations - Experience with operational team leadership or coordinating roles - Experience in areas of social services or care Personal Qualities You are analytical, structured, and thrive in a role that combines independent work with close collaboration.
