Budget and Debt Counselor for the Citizen Service Unit

The department also includes the Service and Facilities Unit, Urban Environment Unit, and the Executive Secretariat. The department is also responsible for security and safety issues, environmental and climate issues, business, civil society and culture, urban planning, information security, and data protection. The Citizen Service Unit works with areas such as social guidance, transportation services, family support, budget and debt counseling, consumer guidance, summer jobs, and parental support. Our mission is to offer residents in the district area easily accessible and high-quality service to facilitate everyday life and provide support in various life situations. Currently, four budget and debt counselors work in the unit. To better meet the need and create conditions for more preventive and outreach work, the operation is now being expanded with an additional budget and debt counselor. Your Role As a budget and debt counselor with us, you will become an important part of providing the residents of Hägersten-Älvsjö with accessible and professional service. Your focus will be on personal finance, with budget and debt counseling as the core task. Through qualified household economic counseling, you will support and guide individuals in financial difficulties and provide them with concrete tools to find long-term and sustainable solutions. The work involves close contact with individuals where you can make a real difference in their daily lives. Your Competence and Experience We are seeking candidates who meet these requirements: • You have a social work degree or other relevant higher education that the employer considers equivalent. • At least one year of experience in municipal budget and debt counseling. Personal Qualities You have both the ability to collaborate and take personal responsibility. The work of a budget and debt counselor involves independently driving your cases forward while providing advice and support to people in complex life situations. Your ability to meet people with respect, empathy, and understanding is crucial to creating trust and finding long-term solutions that help residents gain control of their finances. We are looking for someone who is stress-resistant, meticulous, and structured. You will be working with budgeting, debt restructuring, and financial counseling - therefore, it is important that you can explain economic terms in a simple and comprehensible way. Additional Information The position is located at Telefonvägen 30, Telefonplan, where you will share a room with a colleague. Since the unit offers support and service to residents in the Hägersten-Älvsjö district administration, some work may occur outside of office hours, but no later than 7:00 PM and only on rare occasions per semester.
