About this role
Räddningstjänsten Sydost is, as of January 1, 2023, a municipal association responsible for fire services for approximately 180,000 residents in the municipalities of Borgholm, Emmaboda, Högsby, Kalmar, Mönsterås, Mörbylånga, Nybro, Oskarshamn, and Torsås.
We employ 560 staff members, of which 370 are RIB employees. Our operations are based at 22 RIB stations and four full-time stations. Our mission is primarily to provide equivalent and satisfactory protection against accidents concerning human life and health, as well as property and the environment. Our work is governed by the political board, which decides on budget, goals, and fundamental authority matters. Our values are rooted in our residents, us as an employer, and our employees.
We are now seeking summer substitute firefighters for our four full-time stations in Oskarshamn, Simpevarp, Nybro, and Kalmar. Immediate employment as a substitute may also be possible following an introduction, subject to mutual agreement.

You will interact with people in various situations, work together with colleagues as part of a team, and be physically active. Therefore, you must be interested in and skilled at dealing with people and able to collaborate. Additionally, the job imposes physical demands on you, which are maintained through training and practice.
Working hours
Since our full-time station is staffed around the clock, you will typically work shift hours. You will work days, nights, and weekends, which means you must be able to adapt to different working hours. During the summer period, we will operate around the clock.
Development opportunities
After working for a few years as a firefighter, you can often specialize in more functional areas such as respiratory protection, radio/telecommunications, and more. You may also have the opportunity to further your education in rescue management and supervision at one of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's schools.
Special competencies at our full-time stations include underwater diving in Kalmar, high-altitude operations in Oskarshamn, and drone operations in Nybro.
Räddningstjänsten Sydost is committed to long-term recruitment of firefighters.
