About this role

SHIS Bostäder is Stockholm City’s housing social resource. Our mission is to provide safe transitional housing for established and newly arrived residents of Stockholm who, for social or economic reasons, find themselves outside the regular housing market. At SHIS, tenants live for a limited time, and our goal is to educate and guide them toward obtaining their own rental contracts. SHIS has approximately 220 dedicated employees, and together we manage around 40 properties with about 3,700 apartments, supporting a large number of tenants each year. SHIS Bostäder is now seeking a service-oriented housing advisor with the ability to build trust with individuals living in vulnerable situations. Are you motivated to support people on their journey to secure housing and want to work on a mission that is vital to society? You will work alongside other housing advisors, housing support staff, property managers, and cleaners with our shared mission – to enable our tenants to receive the key to their own door. In this role, you will report to the section manager. You are adaptable to changing circumstances and enjoy collaborating with others. Job Description As a housing advisor, you will be responsible for assisting with any questions our tenants may have throughout their tenancy, as well as providing housing guidance. Support may include answering practical questions during move-in and move-out processes or when changing residences. You will also need to assist and accompany tenants during interactions with authorities when necessary. Your work will also involve handling maintenance requests to property owners and providing service to external parties and our tenants. Administrative tasks related to move-ins, move-outs, and rent payments, among other duties, are also part of the position. You will plan and conduct information meetings and follow-ups together with social services and tenants. You will plan and execute contract signings and follow-ups with tenants, as well as collaborate with municipal district administrations. You are expected to monitor rent payments and assist tenants with their debts during their tenancy to facilitate their opportunities in the housing market, which may involve contacting budget and debt advisors in Stockholm or our budget and debt advisor when needed. Documentation will be carried out in our operational system in accordance with rental legislation. The needs of the tenants are our focus, and therefore we also offer evening hours as planned within the section. At SHIS, we work using the MI (Motivational Interviewing) method. Qualifications It is important that you are flexible and service-oriented with strong collaborative skills. You need to have good knowledge and understanding of inclusion issues related to tenants' diverse backgrounds. One of the most important aspects of our work is collaboration with our clients, the municipal district administrations, which requires you to be communicative and possess strong teamwork abilities. You are therefore expected to have a holistic perspective, both in your work with tenants and in relation to SHIS's societal mission. We are looking for someone who has: - Post-secondary education, such as vocational training or education with a focus on behavioral sciences/social work/care, or education that the employer deems equivalent - Experience working within or collaborating with social services or the public sector, for example as a community advisor - Experience working with the target group - Proficiency in computer systems (Office Suite) - Strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. It is an advantage if you also have: - Post-secondary education as a social pedagogue - Knowledge of or experience working with rental legislation - Experience working with the application of rental legislation and familiarity with documentation in operational systems - Knowledge of or experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI), low-arousal approaches, or equivalent methods - Understanding of LGBTQI+ issues. In this recruitment process, you must be able to demonstrate your right to work in Sweden by presenting Swedish citizenship, citizenship from another EU country, or other documentation that certifies your right to work in the country. We Offer You SHIS offers you a developing job where no day is the same. With us, you have the opportunity to make a difference. You will meet many different people in your role, providing you with new perspectives, making SHIS a stimulating workplace. We uphold the equal value of all individuals and appreciate each employee's unique competence. We foster a welcoming atmosphere and a pleasant working environment. We offer our employees wellness grants and the opportunity for wellness activities during work hours. This is a full-time temporary position for approximately one year, with immediate start. The location is Örby (Älvsjö). Recruitment Process Stockholm City works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's skills and thus counteracting discrimination.
