About this role
Do You Want to Make a Difference for People Struggling with Harmful Use and Addiction?
With us, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with individuals and create conditions for a safer and more independent life. As a housing support worker, you'll be a crucial part of building trust, providing daily support, and contributing to change – step by step. We're seeking someone with commitment, patience, and a genuine interest in meeting people where they are.
Now that a colleague is moving to another position in the team, we need to expand our team with an amazing new colleague.
Your Responsibilities
A significant part of the work involves coordinating and guiding clients, directing them to the right resources, motivating lifestyle changes, and providing support in various contexts. A key factor is working with harm reduction, which means supporting clients in finding strategies to manage and mitigate negative consequences of harmful use, instead focusing on recovery and health-promoting activities. You'll be able to provide comprehensive support without compromising the person's right to self-determination or taking over responsibility for their life. You believe change is possible and can convey calmness and a positive feeling to people even under difficult circumstances. In supporting clients to find strategies and opportunities and in developing implementation plans, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and low-affective approaches are the prevailing methods.
Housing support is tailored to individual needs, conditions, and opportunities to develop a functional daily life with good quality of life. Since support needs and wishes vary greatly, housing support is a versatile intervention individually designed for each person. It is a mobile intervention performed in the client's home and/or in the community, based on evidence-based methods and/or proven experience.
Who Are You?
Requirements:
- Minimum two-year full-time education as a social pedagogue, treatment assistant, or equivalent
- Class B driver's license
- Knowledge and several years of practical work experience as a housing support worker or treatment assistant in the area of harmful use and/or addiction
- Experience with collaboration and coordination between different actors
- Knowledge of social services and laws governing municipal and regional interventions for the target group
- Good understanding of society and the welfare system
- Knowledge of social documentation and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Meritorious:
- Experience working with co-occurring psychiatric/harmful use/addiction conditions
- Training in evidence-based methods such as MI, Relapse Prevention, CRA, ASI, and LAB
To succeed in our mission, you need to be flexible, creative, and persistent, with excellent collaboration and initiative skills, and able to independently plan, implement, and follow up interventions systematically. You should be empathetic, motivating, able to create an alliance with clients, and enjoy having fun at work. As a housing support worker, you need personal maturity, be self-driven, comfortable working independently while maintaining close collaboration with colleagues. We place great importance on personal suitability.
