The Eye Care Unit at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), with approximately 230 employees, operates in both Malmö and Lund. The unit is at the forefront of both basic and specialist training for doctors. The ophthalmology departments at Lund University conduct extensive research. In addition to meeting the residents' needs for eye care in Malmö and Lund, we also provide regional hospital care for the entire Skåne Region as well as Halland, Kronoberg, and Blekinge.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief Physician specializing in cataract and ocular plastic surgery.
The positions include outpatient care as well as on-call duties (primary/backup) for some evenings/nights or public holidays each month. Training of residents and newly qualified specialists is an important part of the role. There are significant opportunities to conduct research in eye diseases.
The positions are based at the Eye Care Unit at Sus, with some positions primarily located in Lund and others primarily in Malmö.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare and have:
- Specialist competence in ophthalmology
- Proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale
- Completed or planned course in clinical supervision
- Full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time)
- Clinical skill and independence in cataract and ocular plastic surgery
- Completed or planned clinical supervisor training
- Documented teaching and supervision qualifications.
A dissertation and/or specialist examination may be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.
We expect you to be goal-oriented and possess good collaboration skills. Furthermore, you should be interested in teamwork, development work, and leadership. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.
At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application the pedagogical courses you have completed or planned, as well as your experience in supervision and teaching at various levels.
