About this role
Västra Götalandsregionen, which is Sweden's largest adult education provider, manages six folk high schools: Billströmska, Dalsland, Fristad, Grebbestad, Göteborg, and Vara.
We conduct education and popular education by allowing participants to take general courses to gain qualifications for higher studies or specialized courses where they can delve into a specific area. There are about thirty longer courses to choose from. At most of our schools, as well as at the administrative level, we also run various projects in a range of areas. The administration also includes Validering Väst and the VIA assignment, which supports individuals who are further from the labor market. We aim to create opportunities for individuals and for society by working towards security, participation, and belief in the future. Many say that their year at folk high school was the best year of their lives. Folk high schools make a difference and help people find their future.
Grebbestads folkhögskola has approximately 140 students enrolled in long courses, divided between general courses and specialized courses. The general course covers common subjects for half the week and focuses on specializations for the other half. These specializations aim to give course participants a chance to expand their qualifications in an area of interest, as well as to explore a new direction in life. In the specialized courses, students can investigate and deepen their skills in a craft full-time. The course promotes processes related to creativity and creation. The focus of our courses is always on personal development and education through co-creation. Grebbestad Folkhögskola operates year-round, and during the summer, we offer short courses.
Our boarding facility plays an important role in the school's pedagogy, accommodating about 60 students throughout the year. We have approximately 35 employees in our operations.
