About this role
When you work in Säter Municipality, you work for future hope and quality of life for Säter residents. With commitment and collaboration, we work towards a sustainable society, and you are welcome to join us!
With proximity to most things that enhance quality of life, it is pleasant and easy to live and work in our municipality.
Kungsgårdsskolan is a preschool-grade 6 school with an associated after-school program and has approximately 475 students and 70 employees. The school is beautifully located in central Säter, and the school area also includes Prästgärdet where preschool classes are located. The school's management team currently consists of a principal and two deputy principals.
Soon, a renovation of the entire Kungsgårdsskolan will begin to create a modern and functional preschool-grade 6 school for approximately 550 students and 70 staff. The project covers approximately 7,900 square meters of gross floor area and includes primary school, after-school program, specialized classrooms, and a well-designed schoolyard. More information about the upcoming renovation can be found on the Säter Municipality website.
Do you want to lead the development within Säter's primary school area? Then you could be our new deputy principal. As a deputy principal with us, you will have great opportunities to contribute to a successful school where student development, safety, and learning are always at the center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a deputy principal, you are a central part of the school's management and work closely with the principal and your fellow deputy principal to lead and develop the operations. The role involves clear and present leadership, both in daily work and in the school's long-term development.
In Säter Municipality, deputy principals also have delegated personnel responsibility. You will have personnel responsibility for the lower grades, including after-school activities, which involves recruitment, employee discussions, skills development, and salary conversations. You are also responsible for delegated work environment tasks within the lower grades and after-school area, ensuring that systematic work environment efforts are followed up and developed.
You will follow up and develop the quality of instruction and ensure that policy documents, guidelines, and school goals are adhered to. In close collaboration with the student health team, you work to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
You will coordinate scheduling, staffing, and administrative processes within your area of responsibility together with the administrator who is the school's scheduler, with support from your management team colleagues.
The role also includes driving, managing, and supporting school development work, both independently and in collaboration with school management and employees. You will build and maintain good relationships with students, guardians, and external partners. When needed, you will function as acting principal and contribute to a stable, clear, and well-functioning school leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
For the deputy principal position, you must have relevant education and experience for the assignment, with a background in primary school work, preferably in preschool-grade 6 and/or after-school programs. You have previously held leadership or development assignments, such as team leader, team coordinator, or project manager, and have experience with personnel management, work environment efforts, or scheduling. You have a good ability to lead and motivate staff, build trusting relationships, and translate policy documents, school law, and other regulations into practice. The role also requires good administrative skills and experience working structured with follow-up, documentation, and analysis, as well as the ability to drive and coordinate development work. You express yourself well verbally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you have completed or started principal training, as well as having experience in student health work and close collaboration with student health teams. Experience in preschool-grade 3 or after-school programs is an advantage, as the position is focused on lower grades and after-school activities. Experience in municipal school organization and familiarity with digital tools and administrative systems is also considered meritorious.
As a person, you have a secure and clear leadership style and ability to create structure, stability, and a productive work environment.
