Chemistry Department with over 200 employees is one of the largest institutions at Stockholm University.
Research at the Chemistry Department spans all areas of chemistry, including analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry, as well as organic chemistry. The research projects are numerous, ranging from theory to experiments, from pure fundamental research to more applied projects, often focusing on sustainable chemistry, but also advanced analytical methods for chemicals and materials. The Chemistry Department has a well-developed research infrastructure with a variety of equipment and qualified support from staff researchers.

Subject Description
Sustainable chemistry with a focus on life cycle assessment (LCA) involves the development and application of LCA methods that address statistical and model-related uncertainties for the evaluation of safe and environmentally friendly chemical products, materials, and processes.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for employment as an assistant professor, the candidate must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. Primarily, candidates who obtained such a degree no more than seven years prior to the application deadline will be considered. However, those who obtained such a degree earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances.
All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the applicant to have the ability to collaborate and be suitable in other respects to fulfill the job responsibilities.
Assessment Criteria
Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific competence. Some importance will also be given to pedagogical skills.
Experience in conducting prospective LCA will also be valued.
Scientific competence will primarily be assessed within the subject area of the position.
About the Employment
The position of assistant professor is part of the university's career path ("tenure track") and is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2024:673).
For this position, the assistant professor will be employed indefinitely, but for a maximum of six years. The employment can be extended to a maximum of eight years if there are special reasons. Special reasons may include illness or parental leave.
After application and evaluation, the assistant professor may be promoted to a permanent position as a university lecturer. Specific criteria for promotion from assistant professor to university lecturer are established by the Area Board for Natural Sciences.
Applications for promotion to university lecturer must be submitted to the faculty no later than nine months before the appointment as assistant professor expires.
Additional Information
The faculty particularly welcomes applications from women, as the majority of teachers in the department are men.
The applicant is expected to be able to take on administrative and pedagogical tasks that require a good understanding of Swedish upon promotion to university lecturer.
Part of Mistra's funding may be used to cover costs such as materials, equipment, operating costs, and the employment of a doctoral student/postdoc. The candidate is expected to participate in a joint leadership program designed and funded by Mistra.
