The unit is responsible for international migration issues, including visa policies, return matters, prevention of irregular migration, and international migration policy cooperation. The unit also coordinates EU work regarding migration and asylum issues.
As Deputy Unit Head, you are the Unit Head's deputy and assist in leading the unit. This includes distributing tasks, coordinating, following up, managing, and developing the organization, operations, work environment, and skills supply in line with management and agency directives. This involves being a sounding board for the Unit Head on various issues and taking primary responsibility for independently executing certain tasks.
The Unit Head has personnel responsibility for unit employees. The Deputy Unit Head must be able to step in for the Unit Head when needed and be responsible for independently managing employees, quality-assuring documentation, and participating in preparations and meetings.
Your Background
You have an academic social science degree relevant to the assignment, such as political science, law, or economics. You have several years of experience working in the Government Offices and management and/or principal experience. Experience in migration work and EU or international organizational work in the Government Offices is meritorious. We appreciate experience with organizational issues and operational development. You need excellent Swedish skills and good English skills, both spoken and written.
Your Characteristics
As Deputy Unit Head, you must be able to lead and engage competent employees and create successful collaborations. Personally, you are stable with good judgment, yet flexible when required. You are quality-conscious with an excellent ability to analyze large amounts of information. The role requires working structured, efficiently, and proactively.
Additional Information
Permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. The Deputy Unit Head position normally ends when the Unit Head leaves.
The position is classified in a security class. You must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
