Job Opportunity: Special Education Teacher for Art at Adapted School Forms At Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. Adapted School Forms The adapted school forms are a special education system for students who are assessed as not having the prerequisites to meet the knowledge requirements of primary or secondary school due to an intellectual disability. These school forms have their own curriculum, and teaching is adapted to each student's conditions and needs. At Gotland, we teach students from grades 1-9 in adapted primary school and grades 1-4 in adapted secondary school. Currently, we have approximately 80 students enrolled in adapted primary school and about 35 students in adapted secondary school. Our employees contribute to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults on Gotland. The adapted school forms are currently located at multiple schools across the island. We are now seeking a special education teacher qualified to teach art. Your Responsibilities You will teach students working towards both subjects and subject areas. You should have a strong interest in people and the ability to create good relationships. As an art teacher in adapted primary school, you will work based on each student's development and prerequisites. Students have an intellectual disability and are at different developmental levels. As an art teacher, you are responsible for planning and implementing pedagogical activities. You will also be involved in systematic quality work. You will teach both subjects and subject areas, working from students' needs, interests, and conditions. The work can sometimes be physically demanding and includes some caregiving. Who Are You? We are primarily seeking a qualified special education teacher in art with a focus on intellectual disabilities, authorized to teach subjects and subject areas. Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or functional impairments is meritorious. A driver's license is desirable. You have a strong interest in people and the ability to create good relationships. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and attentive to students' individual conditions. You must be calm and pedagogical with great patience and the ability to create security for each student. You have a positive approach to work. You need to be clear in your actions. You speak, read, and write Swedish fluently. We place great emphasis on previous experience and personality. The work requires your ability to plan and prioritize tasks. It is important that you are good at collaborating with others to achieve set goals. About the Education and Labor Administration As part of Region Gotland, we contribute to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschool, primary school, leisure centers, adapted primary and secondary schools, culture school, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and reception and establishment of newcomers.
