We are seeking a library consultant focusing on regional library operations in Stockholm County.
About the Position
The position is located within the consultant unit. You will be part of a team together with consultants in library, circus, dance, film, music, and crafts, as well as a unit manager. The consultant unit focuses on children and young people. You will work with regional library activities, with a special focus on children and youth. We are looking for someone who can flexibly support the operations.
Work tasks include promoting initiatives towards public libraries in the county, where you will contribute to development in the language area - including multilingual and national minority languages. You will support the Språktåget project, handle mailings, and arrange meetings for public libraries on various themes. You are expected to work independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, providing strategic support, further education, and network building where needed. You will be part of a closely collaborating group of consultants but should also be able to independently drive promotional initiatives towards public libraries' different target groups.
The consultant unit is part of the cultural administration's strategic coordination division, which also includes the Stockholm County Museum and the cultural committee's comprehensive support for cultural and association life, as well as adult education actors. The Cultural Administration in Region Stockholm works on behalf of the Cultural Committee. The Cultural Committee implements Region Stockholm's cultural policy and is responsible for cultural initiatives.
The position is a temporary appointment until December 31, 2026.
Who Are You?
To succeed in the role, we seek someone with an academic degree in Library and Information Science or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of recent experience working in public libraries and knowledge of the target groups prioritized by the Library Act. You have knowledge and experience in children's and youth library issues, strategic development work, and leading educational efforts within the assignment area. Furthermore, you are proficient with digital tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish.
Meritorious is knowledge and experience of accessibility issues and digital participation and development.
As a person, you are self-driven and outgoing, as the work requires good social skills in meetings with our target groups. You structure and plan your own work and carry out your tasks strategically and methodically. You find it easy to collaborate with others and to listen and engage in dialogue with external actors.
Of course, you have an interest in our operations, working in a politically governed organization, and in the content of the position.
