About this role
Västerås City has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and more equitable recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be required to answer a number of questions that will play an important role in our selection work.
Two of our employees will be studying next term. Therefore, we are looking for new colleagues during this time. If you are passionate about literature, storytelling, and democratic issues, this is an opportunity for you!
Your Responsibilities
One position is located at the children's library in the cultural center Kulören, targeting children aged 0-12 and their adults. The other position is at Råby Library, which also focuses on children but serves all ages.
At the cultural center Kulören, the library and the cultural school collaborate in shared facilities. The library is very well visited by children aged 0-12 and their adults. The activities focus on language and reading promotion for the target group, and a primary task is to conduct these activities and engage with the visitors who come to the library.
Råby Library serves as a natural gathering point in the area for both children and adults. People come to the library with various inquiries, such as looking for a specific book, seeking advice on how to read to their children, or needing to print important documents.
In both operations, collaboration with others is a natural part of daily life, and the work involves many contacts with different people.
Your Qualifications
You have a university degree in library and information science or another relevant post-secondary education in fields such as social sciences, social pedagogy, or education.
You have an interest and commitment to literature, storytelling, and writing, and it is beneficial if you have experience in reading promotion work with children and youth as well as library work. You are confident and stable, easily take the initiative, and enjoy collaborating with both colleagues and other partners.
You possess good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and knowledge of one of the following languages: Arabic, Somali, Tigrinya, or Finnish. Good digital competence and a solution-oriented approach are integral to your working style. To thrive with us, you need to enjoy meeting people and have a genuine commitment to them.
We Offer
With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and inclusive environment where each day presents new possibilities. We value community, engagement, and development, and you will be part of a team that supports each other and works towards common goals. You will have a varied job with many interactions and a clear sense that what you do matters.
Here, you will become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
