About the Job Lidköping City Library is seeking a part-time substitute librarian for our operations as one of our employees goes on parental leave. In Lidköping Municipality, there is a centrally located city library with three affiliated branches in Järpås, Tun, and Vinninga, as well as a book bus. We are a public library that belongs to the Culture Unit, Culture and Leisure Area, and Education Sector. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the purchase, inventory, and weeding of newspapers and magazines, as well as the purchase and delivery of certain media. The job also involves convening meetings for our book bus group, where you will act as the meeting leader. The role includes driving the book bus, particularly in rural areas, residential neighborhoods, to nursing homes, and after-school programs. You will also be scheduled at our library reception, participate in meetings, be part of various working groups, and perform other tasks commonly associated with libraries, art, and culture. Your responsibilities will involve interacting with people of all ages and meeting their wishes and needs. Evening and weekend work is included. Who Are You? We are looking for someone with a degree in Library and Information Science or other relevant education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Several years of experience is preferred. You should enjoy being a public face and managing various tasks simultaneously. Providing everyone with a good reception is a given for you. To thrive and succeed in this role, you should: - Be unpretentious and enjoy having varied tasks - Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Initiate, plan, and complete tasks - Be creative, flexible, and innovative - Be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Other Information The position is a substitute role at 80%, starting in early March 2026 or by agreement, extending until March 2027. Interviews will be conducted on December 19.
