About this role
Description
At Burgården, we educate for reality, and just like in real life, our school is a vibrant world filled with numerous specializations, people, and interactions.
We offer vocational programs, college preparatory programs, and introductory programs. Here, you will have the opportunity to grow in your profession and be an important part of our development journey to become an even better school. We work with an open mind, a big heart, and a professional pride that is contagious. We are a multicultural school with students from all neighborhoods and surrounding municipalities. Here, the future hairdressers, hair and makeup stylists, barbers, and fashion designers move alongside social scientists, nursing assistants, childcare workers, support assistants, natural scientists, animal caretakers, and security guards.
Responsibilities
We are now seeking a librarian for Burgården High School! As a librarian at Burgården, you play a crucial role in promoting students' reading and writing development and inspiring them to read. You will administer and manage the library's physical and digital resources and plan the library's activities together with another librarian. The work is linked to both Burgården High School and Burgården's adapted high school.
In collaboration with teachers, special educators, and ICT educators, you will work to create conditions for learning and to strengthen students' reading engagement and reading skills. In addition to ensuring that the library is an accessible, inviting, and inclusive environment for our students, you will also guide and educate the school's students in information retrieval, source criticism, and digital competence. You will work pedagogically with library instructions, literature presentations, and teaching in media and information literacy, among other tasks. Responsibilities include media planning and purchasing, circulation, and media management.
We also have a librarian network within the education administration where you will become another collaborative partner.
Qualifications
You should be a qualified librarian, which means having a degree in library and information science. Good IT skills are a requirement. Experience working with Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) is an asset.
Previous experience working in a high school library or with high school students is also advantageous for this position.
We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with young people and working based on their conditions. Commitment and interest in young people's education, interests, and media habits are essential for you to thrive here.
As a person, you have a strong ability to organize and create structure in the operations. Since the role involves many points of contact with both students and staff, communication and collaboration skills are particularly important for this position.
Additional Information
For your interview, you need to bring your passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is required for us as an employer to verify your identity and ensure that you have the right to work in Sweden.
