Public Libraries in Falun consist of five library units. Falun City Library is located in the city center. Community libraries are placed in Bjursås, Svärdsjö, and Vika. A smaller bookmobile visits preschools in the mornings and community areas in the afternoons. With the Open Access system, libraries in Bjursås, Svärdsjö, and Vika can be used even when unstaffed. Together, we work to provide the municipality's residents access to media, reading experiences, and opportunities for societal participation.
In total, 25 people work across our different libraries. Most employees serve to some extent at the City Library to enable collaboration with colleagues. This position is located in the adult team at Falun City Library.
We are also part of Dalabiblioteken - a library collaboration including all public libraries in the Dalarna region.
Job Responsibilities
Would you like to help develop the library's media work with a focus on quality, accessibility, and literature promotion? We are seeking a strategic and engaged librarian who wants to work with media management - from purchasing and weeding to display and visibility of our collections. You will also be part of Dalabiblioteken's media work.
Example tasks and responsibilities:
• Plan and execute media purchases and subject monitoring based on library goals, media policy, and user needs.
• Analyze and follow up on media usage and borrowing patterns
• Assist the library director in media procurement issues
• Manage the media budget
• Develop signage and displays to inspire reading and increase accessibility
• Contribute to literature promotion efforts and collaborate with colleagues on programming and reading promotion projects
In addition to the above tasks, standard librarian duties are included, such as service desk shifts, interlibrary loans, book shelving, and certain administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Required for the role:
• Degree in Library and Information Science
• Work experience in libraries
• Strong literary interest and experience working with literature and literature promotion
• Excellent Swedish language skills

Employment Terms
Permanent position. Full-time (40 hours/week). Evening and weekend shifts included. Earliest start date: 1/1-26.
