About this role

Do You Want to Make a Difference Through Reading Promotion Work? About the Workplace Culture is a crucial driving force in making Helsingborg the most attractive city. An active and visible cultural policy is pursued through cultural institutions, independent cultural practitioners, and civil society engagement. The public activities of the administration include Helsingborg Library, Helsingborg Museum, Helsingborg Cultural School, Helsingborg Art Hall, and Dunkers Stages. These are supported by shared staff functions for communication, administration, finance, and HR. The library's mission is to provide all Helsingborg residents free access to information and knowledge, create inspiring meeting places, promote reading, and work with digital participation to promote free opinion formation and development in a democratic society. As part of the library's strategy, the entire operation works to elevate priority target groups, operate outside its own premises, collaborate with other activities, and increase participatory culture. Library operations work as a whole and currently encompass nine district libraries, a library bus, a city library, and a digital library. Changes are underway, with the city library opening in temporary premises in December and two new district libraries planned to open in 2026. The organization consists of five departments (Read, Meet, Search, Digital Library/Media, Support) and a staff. Approximately eighty employees work within the operation. Job Responsibilities Helsingborg Library is now seeking an engaged employee for the Read department, whose mission is to work with reading inspiration for all ages and target groups. As a librarian focusing on adults, you are a key person in our reading promotion work for this target group. You will interact with our visitors in the library's daily operations, through staffing, program activities, and collaborations – both within our premises and in the community. Meeting people is one of the library's most important missions, and we are seeking someone who gains energy from creating meaningful encounters. You will work attentively and individually in staffing, where guidance, direction, and inspiration are central components. You will conduct activities such as author talks, book circles, and visits to LSS, and contribute to making the library a living place for dialogue and development. You will develop your skills through active world monitoring and take clear personal responsibility for learning – while generously sharing your knowledge with colleagues. Selected Job Responsibilities: • Be a host in library operations, staff and guide users with direction and support – individually and in groups • Promote, inspire, and convey literature and knowledge • Plan and implement activities and projects inside and outside the library premises • Guide users in the digital landscape and use technical tools in various contexts • Create and maintain collaborations and networks, both internally and externally • Monitor the world and contribute to personal and colleague skill development • Participate in and drive development work You will become part of Helsingborg Library, which means you may work at the city library, district libraries, or library bus. Evening and weekend shifts are required. Currently, the position is partially located at Idé A Drottninghög, our most visited district library with strong local roots, many partners, and a rich array of activities. Qualifications We are seeking candidates with a degree in library and information science or another education deemed equivalent by the employer. You have a clear focus on interaction and the ability to recognize each visitor's individual service and guidance needs. You have experience working pedagogically, and previous project management is meritorious. Experience and commitment to children and youth are important as they are a target group we all encounter in our libraries. You have a strong interest in literature, especially for adults, and are passionate about conveying reading experiences. You have an agile approach to changes in the world and in operations. You are someone who easily builds and maintains a broad network, both within and outside the organization, and you like to see opportunities and propose new ideas that develop the operation. You enjoy working with people and show understanding and interest in others' perspectives. You can clearly and confidently present information, conduct activities and conversations engagingly. You have a good ability to plan and organize your work in a structured manner. We place great importance on your personal qualities. In the recruitment process, we use selection questions and place significant emphasis on these in the selection work. Working in the City of Helsingborg Do you want to help create a better city together with Helsingborg residents? Then you should work in the City of Helsingborg. Here, you can use your creativity and drive to make life easier and safer for our residents, visitors, and business community. Together with curious and helpful colleagues, you make a difference in people's lives, both today and in the future. A good job today
