Råneå is located about 40 kilometers north of Luleå. It is a small community with approximately 2000 residents. Outside central Råneå, there are about ten villages, making the catchment area of Råneå and its surroundings encompass around 5000 inhabitants.
Råneå Library is situated in the Medborgarhuset in Råneå and receives about 28,000 visitors per year. As an employee at Råneå Library, you will be part of a small team while also being integrated into the larger organization of Libraries in Luleå, which consists of around 45 colleagues where collaboration and teamwork are essential and occur in various configurations and forums. The Libraries in Luleå include the city library in Kulturens hus, five smaller branch libraries (Råneå, Gammelstad, Björkskatan, Porsön, Hertsön), as well as two bookmobiles.
In addition to its library duties, Råneå Library has an expanded mission related to citizen services, support for associations, and tourist information. Råneå Library collaborates extensively with other stakeholders, often local organizations and associations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Together with your three colleagues at Råneå Library, you will work on the library's core mission regarding promoting reading, democracy, and digital inclusion. This core mission is fulfilled through interactions with visitors as well as through physical and digital activities and programs.
You will engage with both groups and individuals in the library and work outwardly to build a solid understanding of the local community and foster collaboration among residents, associations, and other local actors.
This role focuses on children and young people, but in your daily work, you will encounter a diverse range of visitors of all ages at different stages of life. This includes students from local schools, individuals from day programs, new parents, retirees, newcomers to Sweden, tourists, and regular patrons. Together with your team, we strive to provide excellent service and a pleasant experience for everyone.
The position is a temporary contract for approximately 12 months while one of the employees is on parental leave.
The role includes some evening shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications:
• Degree in Library and Information Science or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Ability to navigate and work in various digital systems, e-services, apps, and digital tools.
• Strong knowledge of literature and the ability to work with various methods and tools for promoting reading.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in public libraries.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Language skills beyond Swedish and English.
