Welcome to Linnaeus University! Here, you will meet 2,200 employees and 40,000 students who together follow the vision of putting knowledge into motion for sustainable societal development. We conduct research and education with an eye towards the future. Our proximity to the business community, both locally and globally, gives us a long reach and the opportunity for change that makes an impact. All that is needed is a space where ideas can meet and grow. That is what we have created – and you are invited.
Change starts here!
The University Library is a learning environment and a resource for information provision, knowledge dissemination, and education. Its overarching mission is to support education, research, and collaboration. The work is to be carried out in dialogue with the university's students, teachers, and researchers. In addition to the library, activities include higher education pedagogical development, Study Workshop, digital learning environments, and The Cultural University. Furthermore, we are responsible for the Medical e-Library for Kalmar County. Together, we are over 60 employees.
We are now seeking a librarian for the Media and Systems Section.
As a librarian with us, you will work closely with our users and have the opportunity to help develop the operations. The section is responsible for keeping the library's printed and digital collections updated and relevant in dialogue with students, teachers, and researchers at Linnaeus University. We also provide media supply services to Kalmar County. Within the section, the library's system librarians are responsible for technical support and development of our systems, and there is also communication support for the library. We are driving an active change process aimed at national collaboration around a new library system, open science, and a deeper engagement in democratic issues.
Responsibilities
You will work both collaboratively and independently to support researchers, teachers, and students in their information needs. You will be part of teams with supportive and experienced colleagues who work with selection, purchasing, and making electronic and printed books and other information resources accessible. Your tasks will also include cataloging, interlibrary loans, and collection work. Together with engaged colleagues, you will work outwardly to capture needs and promote the library's resources to teachers, researchers, and students. There is also the opportunity to work with reading promotion methods. You will meet and support the library's users both in the library and through digital support channels.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science. You are committed and enjoy interacting with the library's users, thriving in both collaborative and independent decision-making. You are communicative and proactive, accustomed to working in a structured and user-centered manner. You have an understanding of digital tools and systems related to library operations, are comfortable speaking in front of groups, and are interested in media issues. Experience working with media in libraries is an advantage. You are fluent in both spoken and written Swedish and English. We place importance on your personal qualities.
Employment Conditions
Permanent position at 100% with immediate start or as agreed. A probationary period will apply. Linnaeus University has locations in both Växjö and Kalmar, and work can take place at both sites. You will be based in Kalmar during the first year, but if desired, an agreement can be made regarding a change of location in the future.
