About this role

Everyone in Sweden should have access to safe food and drinking water – even in times of crisis or war. The Swedish Food Agency plays a crucial role in this, and we are now ramping up our efforts. Would you like to contribute to our capability-building work and the establishment of a new food preparedness? Here is your chance to work with national support for municipalities and regions and make a difference. Food Supply Unit The position is located within the Food Supply Unit and serves to enhance support for municipalities and regions in their work with food supply. We are leading the establishment of a new food preparedness. The focus is on national coordination of crisis and preparedness planning for food supply, following primary production. We support municipalities, regions, and the business sector in their food supply efforts. We work closely with the food industry through various projects, as well as through the public-private collaboration group within the food chain, which the Swedish Food Agency is responsible for. The Food Supply Unit is one of five units in the Department of Food and Drinking Water Supply. The department works to enhance capabilities in drinking water and food supply. To fulfill tasks and assignments, we often collaborate across different units within the department as well as with other departments in the agency. Your Role As an employee with us, you will work nationally to support municipalities and regions in their food preparedness efforts. You will develop support materials, guiding texts, and methods that strengthen food preparedness in essential community services, such as meal services, social services, and healthcare. The role primarily involves strategic work but also includes elements of follow-up and analysis. You will be part of a competent and engaged team where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and initiative are key. As a member of the Food Supply Unit, you will operate within the unit's area of responsibility with a focus on building a new food preparedness. The unit often handles larger assignments related to supply issues, and you are expected to contribute to this. The area is under strong development, which means that the nature of the work may change over time. The competencies and experiences you bring and acquire are of great importance for shaping the work. You, together with your colleagues, will take responsibility for the shared assignments and resources of the operation as well as the needs of target groups. Furthermore, you will make thoughtful priorities in your work and deliver in accordance with set goals. You will monitor the external environment to gain new perspectives, maintain relevant competencies, and adapt your work to the requirements and conditions of the operation. It is important that you stay updated and follow trends by engaging with, for example, research. Your Competence We are looking for someone with an academic background that the employer deems relevant. A requirement is that you have experience working in a municipality or region, for example as a preparedness officer or in a similar role within preparedness planning. It is also expected that you have a very good understanding of crisis preparedness and total defense. Furthermore, you have the ability to work strategically and develop supportive materials. It is advantageous if you have worked at a national authority or other public sector organization. Experience in the food sector, meal services, or training/exercises in the preparedness area is also beneficial. You should have excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of English is an asset. Your Personal Qualities As a person, you are communicative and maintain high quality in presentations and information sharing, both in front of an audience and in written materials. Creating and maintaining relationships and networks comes naturally to you. To function in the role, where interaction with others with different backgrounds is central, requires humility and the ability to understand the situation of the target group. You act responsibly, collaboratively, and with a focus on development. You are solution-oriented and invite and are open to collaborations and new perspectives that improve our deliveries. You enjoy working in a team and are open to new working methods, sharing knowledge and lessons learned to strengthen our collective capability.
