About this role

The Swedish Maritime and Transport Historical Museums (SMTM) won the award for "Sweden's Most Modern Authority 2023" for its work in renewal and innovation, leadership and employee engagement, sustainable development, as well as legal security and efficiency. We work with cultural heritage with the vision of broadening people's worldview through knowledge, experiences, and engagement. The authority has a well-integrated sustainability effort and also aims to inspire others to act for a sustainable future. We have exciting development work ahead as the authority grows in 2026. We will continue to cultivate a culture and working methods where people and ideas have the space to grow, while also building a shared culture with common working methods in a new organizational structure within a larger authority. We are developing an effective collaborative culture characterized by trust, curiosity, and accountability. A culture where we improve together! **About the Position** In the role of museum host, you will meet our visitors, and we are looking for someone who is experienced in service and hospitality. You will be the museum's face to the public, and your approach is crucial for our visitors' experience. As a museum host, you will work in three different areas: - Entrance/store, where you will handle ticket sales and control, as well as be active in daily store operations - Exhibitions, where you will be available to assist our visitors and answer questions about our subject area - Family activities, where you will welcome children and families to try various activities from our program offerings As a museum host, you may also conduct tours and be part of a public safety effort with responsibilities in an evacuation organization. The position requires you to work as needed on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Evening work may occur during bookings and events. **Your Skills and Experience** You should have completed high school and have prior experience working in customer-facing roles within the tourism industry or from similar service-oriented operations that we consider equivalent. It is important that you enjoy an outreach role and that you want to convey the museum's subject area to our visitors. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and it is beneficial if you also speak German and/or Polish. Experience in conducting guided tours, working in a store/reception with cash handling experience, educational activities, knowledge of Swedish naval history, and familiarity with Karlskrona and its World Heritage site is advantageous. **Personal Attributes** We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. You have a positive attitude and a high degree of service orientation. You are outgoing, and it comes naturally to you to engage with our visitors and provide excellent hospitality. You are a quick learner, take initiative during your workday, and easily adapt to a varied environment that involves multiple tasks. You have strong collaborative skills and thrive in a role where you collectively take responsibility for creating a pleasant work environment and achieving set goals together. **More About Us** The Naval Museum in Karlskrona is one of the largest tourist destinations in southeastern Sweden, attracting around 200,000 visitors each year.
