About this role

Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, offering a unique combination of the serene beauty of nature and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission encompasses many facets: education, real estate, social services, ports, healthcare, libraries, care, and more. We strive to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who enable the dream of a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses. To achieve this fully, we must possess a wide range of competencies and work together to foster a shared and trusting work culture, built on courageous and responsible employees who understand the needs and desires of the residents. Kvarnbergsskolan is seeking a Treatment Assistant/Social Pedagogue with experience in PBS. Kvarnbergsskolan is a school for grades 6-9 located in central Gustavsberg, approximately 30 minutes by bus from Slussen. The school’s premises are designed and adapted for work with the higher grades and underwent extensive renovation and expansion a few years ago. Our school features a warm and dedicated staff committed to the best interests of the students. To ensure support for students, there is a special educational team where special educators work closely with other teachers to assist students in need within adjusted learning environments and smaller contexts. We place particular emphasis on the school's mission to promote students' comprehensive personal development. A key principle for us is that academic development goes hand in hand with social growth. Therefore, we have several social pedagogues at the school who collaborate with teachers in the working teams regarding the students. We are now looking for a Treatment Assistant/Social Pedagogue to enhance the school’s special support by working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors, preventing problematic situations, and strengthening individual students' social skills by helping them develop functional behaviors. We hope that you will: - Be educated as a Treatment Assistant or Social Pedagogue at the folk high school or university level. - Have knowledge and experience in working with PBS (or TBA), conducting behavioral assessments, designing and implementing behavioral support plans, as well as providing support and guidance to individual students in everyday situations. - Collaborate with teachers and social pedagogues and contribute to the student health work regarding students with challenging behaviors. - Have knowledge and experience working with students with Neuropsychiatric Disabilities (NPF). - Have the ease to establish good relationships and communicate effectively with both students and colleagues. In your role as a Treatment Assistant/Social Pedagogue, you will complement the work of teachers and social pedagogues in the team by supporting individual students and contributing to the adaptation of learning environments, tools, and methods so that students can follow the education and feel comfortable and secure. You will also work to facilitate transitions between different subjects and activities, promote positive relationships among students, and take proactive, preventive, and remedial actions against behavioral issues such as non-compliance and bullying. Your competencies will also strengthen the school's efforts in guiding students towards the curriculum's goals, such as "Norms and Values" and "Responsibility and Influence." Your knowledge of PBS in theory and practice will assist teachers and social pedagogues in shaping learning environments and activities aimed at fostering students' development of functional behaviors, social skills, and increased independence. Targeted interventions for individual students to promote growth toward these goals are therefore the most important part of the job. We expect that you are confident in your leadership role, work with low-arousal methods, and contribute to a social situation where students' well-being is at the center. You should have a positive view of students, based on the belief that they can and want to learn, and value diversity. It is also important that you actively participate in the collaboration between the working team and the school with caregivers, that you are willing to share your experiences and competencies with colleagues, and that you feel equipped to handle challenging situations where students' behavior poses difficulties. Given the students’ need for secure and trustworthy adults, personal qualities will be especially considered in the selection for this position. We offer you the opportunity to become an integral part of our school's development, where we create good life opportunities for young people, practically preventing risks such as exclusion, crime, and mental health issues. The school's social pedagogues have significant influence on how the operations are designed to create good conditions for education, and your competencies can make a substantial difference for students who do not naturally adjust their behavior to engage in positive social contexts. For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police records is a prerequisite for hiring. Educational certificates and any employment verification must be attached to the application. Värmdö Municipality offers a generous wellness allowance, SL card against net salary deduction, vacation exchange for extra days off, and much more. We actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good working environment and implement smoke-free working hours. We value the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and therefore welcome applicants from various backgrounds, life experiences, and gender
