About this role
Do you want to contribute and do something meaningful? While also developing yourself and making many connections? Then our summer positions might be just what you are looking for.
With the patient at the center, we provide effective care with knowledge, quality, and compassion. With your help, both we and the patients will improve – welcome to Region Värmland!
Your workplace
The Children's Clinic is sometimes referred to as the "Little Hospital" within the larger hospital, which can be explained by the fact that within our operations, one encounters most of the various specialties in healthcare, including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, oncology, emergency care, and intensive care. This highlights the extensive and broad experience and knowledge we have to offer both patients and staff.
Ward 11 is a neonatal unit with 13 beds, a modern department with nice and functional facilities. We care for premature infants from week 28, sick newborns, and children needing intensive care up to 6 months of age. We work with the best interests of the child in focus, zero separation, and family-centered care.
On Ward 12, we care for children and adolescents up to 18 years old with medical, surgical, and orthopedic issues. The ward has 16 beds.
At the emergency department for children and adolescents in Karlstad, all children and young people up to 18 years old seeking emergency care are attended to. Here, early assessments and care interventions are performed for children in need.
Your responsibilities
Your tasks will include prioritizing children based on medical needs and performing individually tailored nursing interventions. We always adapt our care to the best interests of the child and the family. As a pediatric nurse/nursing assistant, you will work in a team around the sick child.
Your qualifications and competencies
We are looking for someone with one of the following healthcare qualifications: pediatric specialized nursing assistant, pediatric nurse, or nursing assistant. If you are a nursing student who has completed at least the third semester, you are warmly welcome to apply, as are medical students who have completed at least the sixth semester. Previous experience with similar tasks is an advantage.
As a person, you are calm, stable, and able to adapt to the various circumstances that often arise in a hospital setting. Since you will be working in a team, it is important that you are collaborative and responsive to both colleagues and patients. It is natural for you to treat everyone with respect and empathy. We place great importance on qualities such as good teamwork skills and personal suitability.
If you have a specific preference for which department you would like to work in, or if you have previously interned in one of the departments and wish to return, please specify this in your cover letter.
Selection and hiring will take place continuously, so we welcome your application today!
