The Women’s Health Unit has approximately 800 employees and encompasses both gynecological and obstetrical services provided in Lund and Malmö. As a university hospital, we have assignments in both development and education, and our area of operation also conducts successful research.

Responsibilities

In this position, the focus is on enhancing the team's competence in daily practical work and improving patient safety through evidence-based methods and routines. You will provide direct support and mentorship in everyday tasks, becoming a leading voice for quality assurance and team development, while also working closely with patients and being a resource in the clinic.

• As a senior midwife, you have a comprehensive understanding of your profession and can manage, analyze, and guide complex care situations in direct patient care.
• The senior midwife has participated in and handled emergency situations throughout their career and continues to deepen their skills while contributing to development work.
• You will utilize your extensive clinical experience to support and train the healthcare team in practical care tasks.
• Through guidance and mentorship, you will help colleagues strengthen their clinical skills and contribute to maintaining high patient safety in every interaction.
• Your leadership fosters a safe and positive work environment where collaboration and team spirit are at the forefront.
• You will support the team in handling both everyday challenges and sudden changes with clear readiness to act.
• Furthermore, you are expected to possess strong pedagogical skills and actively participate in the implementation of earlier research and evidence while helping to develop new working methods.
• As a team player, you will participate in and lead effective teamwork, actively working to elevate your colleagues.
• In your role, you will be a resource for managers in assessing midwives' competencies, carried out within the framework of the organization's competence and service model (KTM).
• Time allocated for development and the responsibilities of the assignment will be agreed upon with the unit manager and adjusted according to the needs of the organization.
• During the summer period, the senior midwife's working hours will focus on clinical work. The goal is to strengthen and support clinical operations by leveraging the senior midwife's extensive experience and clinical expertise. Administrative tasks will not be conducted during this period.

Qualifications

You who are applying must be a licensed midwife authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. Additionally, you must have met the competency requirements for senior phase according to the local development program within KTM. Extensive clinical experience in obstetrics is a requirement.

It is advantageous if you hold a master's degree and/or have studied courses in improvement and change knowledge, project management, patient safety, and/or leadership, or other courses relevant to the organization. We also consider it a merit if you have extensive clinical experience as a midwife in various fields, such as primary care, ultrasound, specialist maternity care, delivery care, or postnatal care. Furthermore, we view it positively if you have been involved in development work.
