About this role
Are you passionate about children in social care like we are? Come and work with us at the Foster Care Unit in Järfälla!
The Foster Care Unit is part of the Children and Youth department within the Social Administration in Järfälla. We are a group of dedicated foster care secretaries and child case workers, many with over 15 years of experience in social work with children and youth. In our various roles, we work side by side on everything related to foster-placed children and youth, contact activities, and unaccompanied minors. We are a well-functioning team with a pleasant work environment, and most importantly, we do great work with children always at the center. We collaborate closely with our colleagues in other departments and have access to extensive internal open care services.
We are currently engaged in an exciting development project with the open care services. The goal is to increase the potential for sustainable placements in our compensated foster homes by providing extended support to foster homes and children. This support includes interaction support when the child is first placed in the foster home, structured guidance throughout the placement, and crisis support as needed.
Järfälla is growing, and we need to grow too! We are therefore seeking new colleagues who want to make a difference and create good conditions for foster-placed children.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We work based on the three-part parenting formed by social services, foster homes, and biological parents. Social services have overall responsibility and a crucial task of creating good collaboration that benefits the child.
As a child case worker, you are the child's personal social worker, and your mission is to follow the care and ensure the child's needs are met in the best possible way. You will work together with the child's foster care secretary and in close collaboration with parents, foster homes, and the child's biological and professional networks. With the child as the focus, you will conduct follow-ups and reviews of care, investigate the child's needs, and follow up on potential open care interventions. You will receive close management from one of our two team leaders who together are responsible for the unit's 10 child case workers.
The unit also includes foster care secretaries who recruit, investigate, support, and train foster homes, contact persons, and contact families, as well as a placement coordinator who handles all tasks related to procuring external providers. The placement coordinator is our expert in quickly finding emergency foster homes and knows everything about our framework agreements.
The case management and documentation system is Lifecare, and all work is conducted according to BBiC (Children's Needs in Focus).
As an employee, we offer you numerous benefits. In addition to classic benefits like a 3000 kr/year wellness allowance and generous discounts through our benefits portal, we also offer annual working hours, skills development, and external supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be part of our competent team, we want you to have professional maturity and be stimulated by developing and taking responsibility for the operation. You share our value of a clear citizen perspective, meaning we exist for the municipality's residents.
Formally, you need a social work degree and preferably one year of experience in municipal authority work within social services regarding children and/or youth. Previous experience as a child case worker or foster care secretary in foster care is meritorious. A driver's license is required.
You should be well-versed in current legislation and BBiC. Experience with Signs of Safety and MI, and appreciation for working according to these approaches and tools, is seen as a strength.
You communicate easily both verbally and in writing and can adapt your communication as the situation requires. Since the work often involves meeting people in crisis and/or with complex life situations, it's important that you can see possibilities, convey hope, and treat people respectfully. You are structured, stable, and able to understand other people's perspectives or situations without taking on their emotions. You value collaboration and understand the municipal authority role. You take initiative and are engaged in your work.
