Backend Developer

Location: Stockholm or Sundsvall Scope: 100% Remote Work: Up to 50% Assignment Period: February 2, 2026 - February 1, 2027 Application Deadline: November 20, 2025 About the Assignment We are now seeking an experienced backend developer for a project developing a national digital identity solution linked to the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW). The assignment involves participating in the development of a secure, robust, and future-proof digital infrastructure that will be used by both citizens and organizations nationwide. As a backend developer, you will work in an agile team focusing on development, security, and scalability. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and quality assurance of microservices and backend components in a modern and secure architecture. Primary Responsibilities • Develop and maintain backend services in Java • Work with microservice architecture in Linux environments • Contribute to development and operations in container-based environments (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift) • Utilize modern tools like Git, Maven, and Gradle • Collaborate in agile teams and contribute to a security-conscious approach • Support development and integration with APIs and authentication solutions • Contribute to system reliability and performance Your Profile Requirements: • Minimum 5 years of backend development experience in Java • Minimum 3 years of development experience in Linux environments • Minimum 3 years of microservice architecture experience • Experience with Quarkus, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks • Strong knowledge of Git, Maven, Gradle, or equivalent tools • Experience with agile development (Scrum, Kanban) • Excellent Swedish and English skills, both verbal and written Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with cryptographic functions, certificate management, and HSM • Knowledge of SAML2, OpenID, or OAuth 2.0 • Experience with Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases, caching solutions • Frontend or app development experience • Previous work with open source • Experience with container-based environments like Kubernetes or OpenShift Scope and Conditions • Start Date: February 2, 2026 • End Date: February 1, 2027 • Possibility of extension up to 12 months • Work Location: Stockholm or Sundsvall (minimum two days on-site per week) • Remote Work: Up to 50% by agreement • Security Classification: Consultant must undergo security screening (security class 2) before assignment start About Soros Consulting Soros Consulting specializes in matching qualified consultants with assignments in public sector and business.
