We are in an expansive phase where a new school and horse facility have just been put into use. At Axevalla Horse Center, we offer high school, adult education, and vocational college programs in equestrian disciplines, harness racing, and Icelandic horse sports. We also have a farrier education program at the vocational college level. Our goal is for all students to reach their maximum learning potential. Job Responsibilities As a special education teacher, you will collaborate with teachers in identifying student needs. You will conduct and follow up on assessments, investigations, and development of support programs. You will have a coordinating role in implementing additional adaptations and special support. Mentoring conversations with staff and communication with guardians are important tasks. You will create positive relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You should have a holistic view of student learning and abilities and be interested in actively participating in school development. The special education teacher is part of the student health team along with the school counselor, study and career guidance counselor, and school nurse. In our administration, student health is a high priority. We are a small but resource-strong school with great work freedom, where you'll have the chance to make a real difference. Qualifications We are seeking a licensed special education teacher or someone in training. You should have good insight and knowledge of school governance documents and the ability to practically apply them in daily work. You will work under the principal's direction but are expected to be independent and take responsibility for the processes you drive. We seek someone with an approach that meets students where they are academically and tries to find methods to help them progress as far as possible. You need to have the necessary insights into the laws and regulations governing the school system. We place great importance on personal suitability. A driver's license for manual transmission is required. Terms Temporary position with 100% employment, vacation service.
