Waste and Water Sector within Technical Administration is a workplace with 110 dedicated employees who together drive the development towards a more sustainable Östersund. We are responsible for operation, maintenance, and development of the municipality's water and sewage systems, waste facilities, and recycling centers – and are facing an exciting future with many important initiatives.
Your New Job
As a Waste Advisor specializing in planning, you will be responsible for coordinating, analyzing, and planning the establishment of shared waste solutions. The role focuses on structure, long-term sustainability, and creating technical and legal conditions for waste collection.
About the Property-Near Collection (FNI) Project
The government has decided that all households shall be offered property-near collection (FNI) of packaging by January 1, 2027. In Östersund municipality, this means waste collection for villa households, vacation homes, and multi-dwelling buildings will be expanded in the coming years. The project runs until December 31, 2026.
You will be part of the FNI project group – a team with broad expertise where we support each other in our various assignments. You will work closely with our current waste advisor. You will also collaborate with the advisor focusing on customer engagement, whom we are currently recruiting.
Typical Work Tasks
• Contribute analyses and investigations to develop sustainable waste solutions.
• Plan new and develop existing waste collection sites.
• Prepare documentation for land agreements and building permits.
• Work with map materials together with our GIS engineer to optimize waste collection.
• Collaborate with various actors regarding operations, collection, and maintenance.
Your Competence
Requirements
• Higher education in urban planning, technology, environment, or equivalent work experience.
• Class B driver's license.
Meritorious
• Previous work in municipal waste management, land contracting, property management, or related areas.
• Background in GIS and map-related tasks.
• Experience in conducting investigations and managing projects.
