About this role
Developing a sustainable society requires commitment, a holistic perspective, and the ability to connect individual areas of expertise into a complete solution. This is part of our everyday life at Norconsult. We are one of the largest advisors in the Nordic region within community planning and project design. With a comprehensive perspective and a clear environmental profile, we help our clients succeed on their journey from vision to reality.
We are looking for a department manager who wants to lead operations in one of our departments with employees in Stockholm and Karlstad.
The Traffic & Environment department in Stockholm/Karlstad consists of 14 fantastic employees; 7 traffic investigators in Stockholm and 7 traffic and environmental investigators in Karlstad, each with their own team leader. The employees in Stockholm work at our office on Flemminggatan, which will also be your workplace. The office is characterized by cross-border collaboration and collegial warmth. We are seeking a department manager to succeed the current one, who will take on the role of project manager within the group.
You will lead traffic investigators working on a wide range of investigations, including design, analysis, strategies, urban development, parking, and mobility. You will also collaborate closely with the team leader in Karlstad. We see good opportunities for further growth within Traffic in Stockholm and aim to develop the department further with more employees. The traffic investigators in Stockholm are part of our national technical area Traffic, where approximately 40 employees are continuously developing their skills and exchanging experiences.
As department manager, you will have financial responsibility for the department as well as responsibility for recruitment, coordination of the department's work, resource planning, personnel matters, and sales and marketing efforts. The role also involves engaging with clients and industry contacts to increase Norconsult's visibility in the region. You will work on assignments in varying roles depending on your profile and areas of expertise. You and your department will lead and/or participate in joint assignments with colleagues across the country.
We primarily work with municipalities as clients, but also with the Swedish Transport Administration and private clients. The department works from early stages to pre-project planning and collaborates extensively with colleagues in urban planning, landscape, and environment. You will be an important person for the company, as our leaders are crucial in the development of Norconsult alongside colleagues and employees. You will be part of the management team for the Traffic and Environment business unit along with five leadership colleagues with offices from Umeå in the north to Malmö in the south. The business unit consists of approximately 60 employees and is led by a Business Manager.
Your Profile
You have relevant education, experience in leading operations with staff, and have worked in the industry for at least 10 years. A strong commitment to people and employee development is a requirement for the role of department manager. At Norconsult, we value our employees highly, as this leads to other important factors falling into place, such as low employee turnover, high quality, professional pride, job satisfaction, and profitability.
It is advantageous if you are currently or have previously worked as a project manager for multidisciplinary assignments within community building and have established networks and client contacts in the Stockholm area and beyond. You are someone who values high quality and enjoys sales and marketing work.
In your role, you will recruit and develop the operations in line with Norconsult's goals and strategy. As a department manager, you are clear in your communication, enjoy leading by helping others grow, and are decisive by nature. Collaboration is important to you, and you are inspired by succeeding together. At Norconsult, we appreciate kind people!
