We are seeking someone who wants to take strategic and operational responsibility as Department Manager for our new Elderly Care division. The division includes both service providers and regulatory functions and will be one of two divisions within the Care Committee's operations. The other division is the Functional Support division. This is a unique opportunity to influence and drive development forward in an important societal area in Upplands Väsby Municipality. About Us As Department Manager for Elderly Care, you have an important role in developing our elderly care. Part of the development journey is the transition to the new Social Services Act, with a focus on preventive measures for our elderly. The division will be one of two divisions within the Care Committee's operations, with the other being the Functional Support division. The new organization will take effect on January 1st. The core mission of the division is to best meet the needs of municipal residents requiring support, care, and assistance. The division includes a regulatory unit as well as service providers such as home care, specialized housing, day activities, short-term and respite care, and a production kitchen with an associated restaurant. The new organization enables us to collectively achieve a holistic view and comprehensive responsibility for executing our core mission. About the Position As Department Manager for Elderly Care, you will lead a knowledgeable and committed team of ten unit managers who contribute daily to delivering high-quality elderly care to municipal residents in need of support, care, and assistance. Together, you are responsible for managing and developing the municipality's elderly care. As Department Manager, you have personnel, operational, and financial responsibility for your division. This includes ensuring a good work environment and maintaining and developing competence and technical support within the unit. In your role, you will be part of the management team together with the Office Manager, Functional Support Department Manager, Head of Staff, and Individual and Family Care Department Manager. Are You the One We're Looking For: We are seeking someone who has: - Relevant university degree, such as social work or nursing - Several years of experience working with elderly care issues (SOL/HSL) - Documented experience leading managers and larger operations within the current area of operations - Ability to work budget-consciously with clear result-oriented management - Experience working in a politically governed organization It is meritorious if you have: - Experience from both regulatory functions (assistance) and service provision – or very good understanding of both - Knowledge of welfare technology, digital work methods, and documentation systems - Experience coordinating with healthcare in care planning, discharges, and assessment of care needs We will place special focus on personal competencies beyond formal requirements.
