The Department of Marine Management is responsible for coordinating and developing work related to the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, as well as for the development and implementation of Swedish marine spatial planning and other maritime issues. The department is also responsible for national fisheries management and the implementation of the EU Common Fisheries Policy. Would you like to be part of developing the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and shaping the future ecosystem-based management of lakes, waterways, and seas in an exciting leadership role? **Description** As the Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading and developing the department's daily operations. The role involves steering the department's and the authority's activities in line with the intentions of the government and parliament. You will be accountable for the implementation of operations, personnel, and finances. You will be part of the agency's management team and report directly to the Director General. **Responsibilities** The role of Head of the Department of Marine Management includes, among other things, responsibility for the agency's work in marine environmental and fisheries management, marine spatial planning, and access regulation in fisheries. You will lead your department with a holistic perspective for optimal impact and actively work to ensure that your department contributes to the agency's implementation of ecosystem-based management. You will also ensure coordination and provide support to the government office within the department's area of responsibility. The role also includes carrying out work in broad collaboration with other authorities, county administrative boards, and municipalities, as well as in cooperation with our neighboring countries and support for global efforts. You will create conditions for collaboration with all societal actors, particularly within industry and non-profit organizations, as well as universities, colleges, businesses, and local stakeholders. **Qualifications** We are looking for a confident, attentive, and courageous leader. You easily contextualize your own operations within a larger framework, are accustomed to managing change, and can navigate a complex political and administrative environment. **Requirements** - Relevant academic degree, at least a master’s degree or equivalent - At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role in a field deemed relevant to the position - Excellent knowledge of state and/or municipal administration and its decision-making processes, as well as an understanding of the political context - Very good ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English - Interest in working within the entire agency's administrative mission and in understanding current issues Your managerial experience should include responsibility for personnel, including work environment, finances, and operations, and it is required that you have: - Documented experience as a manager of managers - Documented experience in change and development work - Documented experience in strategic leadership - Conducted continuous professional development in leadership **Meritorious** - Experience or expertise in the department's areas of focus, such as marine environmental management, fisheries management, marine spatial planning, or access regulation in fisheries - Good knowledge of relevant EU legislation, EU and international processes, and national legislation in the area - Doctorate in a relevant subject area - Experience in research, development, and/or innovation related to ecosystem-based management from source to sea. **Attributes** At the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, you work as a leader from a holistic perspective based on the state employer policy and value framework, as well as the agency's governing documents. It is a permanent position as Head of Department. The salary range for the position is between SEK 86,000 and SEK 95,000 per month, based on skills relevant to the position. Start date as soon as possible upon agreement.
