The Department of Fisheries Control has an overarching and coordinating responsibility for implementing Swedish fisheries control in accordance with the EU's common regulations. We are responsible for monitoring how Swedish commercial fishing complies with applicable regulations in the fishing sector. Would you like to help develop the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and shape the future of ecosystem-based management of lakes, waterways, and seas in an exciting leadership role? **Description** As the head of the department, you will be responsible for leading and developing the department's daily operations. The role involves steering the department's and the agency's activities in line with the intentions of the government and parliament. This includes responsibility for the implementation of operations, personnel, and finances. You will be part of the agency's management team and report directly to the Director General. **Responsibilities** The role of department head for the Department of Fisheries Control includes responsibility for the agency's work in both field and administrative control of commercial fishing, as well as in subsequent stages. You will lead your department with a holistic perspective for optimal impact and actively work to ensure that your department contributes to the agency's ability to implement ecosystem-based management. You will also ensure coordination and provide support to the government office within the department's area of responsibility. The role also includes conducting work in broad collaboration with other authorities and stakeholders, as well as cooperating with our neighboring countries and participating in European collaboration. You will create conditions for cooperation with all societal actors, particularly within industry and non-profit organizations, universities and colleges, the business sector, and local actors. **Qualifications** We are looking for a confident, attentive, and courageous leader. You have a knack for placing your own operations in a broader context, are accustomed to managing change, and can navigate a complex political and administrative environment. **Requirements** - Relevant academic degree, at least a master's degree or equivalent - At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role in a field we consider relevant to the position - Very good knowledge of state and/or municipal administration and its decision-making processes, as well as an understanding of the political context - Excellent ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English - Interest in working within the agency's entire administrative mandate and in understanding current issues Your managerial experience must have included responsibility for personnel, including work environment, finances, and operations, and you are required to have: - Documented experience as a manager of managers - Documented experience in change and development work - Documented experience in strategic leadership - Engaged in continuous professional development in leadership **Meritorious** - Experience or expertise in the department's areas of responsibility, such as fisheries control and monitoring in the field or administratively. - Experience from regulatory oversight and control **Attributes** At the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, you work as a manager from a holistic perspective based on the state’s employer policies and core values, as well as the agency's governing documents. It is a permanent position as department head. The salary range for the position is between 86,000 and 95,000 SEK/month and is based on competence relevant to the position. Start date as soon as possible upon agreement.
