About this role
Kultur Gävleborg drives operational development within various art and culture sectors with expertise, support, grants, and networking. The organization encompasses different cultural areas including film, dance, art, music, handicrafts, cross-media, literature, and regional library services, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site Hälsingegårdar. Kultur Gävleborg is also responsible for the art collection of Region Gävleborg. Our offices are located at Silvanum in Gävle, but our mission extends across the entire county.
We are now seeking a department head who wants to contribute to a strong and sustainable cultural life and make a real difference for the cultural landscape of the region.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As the department head for Kultur Gävleborg, you will have overall responsibility for leading, coordinating, and developing the department's strategic work based on the region's goals, cultural plan, and library plan. You will work closely with stakeholders within the cultural collaboration model and promote enabling cooperation with civil society, associations, study associations, and other cultural actors.
In the coming years, you will be part of the steering group for the development project Creative Gears, aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises and actors within the creative industries, tourism, and business promotion organizations.
You will be responsible for personnel, finance, operations, and quality, creating conditions for a sustainable and creative work environment. You will represent Kultur Gävleborg in regional and national networks, drive environmental monitoring, and ensure that the department is prepared for changes.
The role involves initiating and leading development work, driving cultural policy processes, and contributing to a vibrant and inclusive cultural life in Gävleborg. The operations of Dance, Art, and Music, as well as the development of the art collection activities, will report directly to you. You will lead approximately 20 employees and a unit manager and will be part of the management team of the administration.
As department head, you will:
• Lead and follow up on the department's activities based on the region's goals and strategies

• Represent Kultur Gävleborg in regional and national networks
• Drive the department's development work and contribute to innovation within cultural activities

QUALIFICATIONS

As a person, you are communicative, collaborative, and adept at building and maintaining relationships both internally and externally. You thrive in environments where dialogue, networking, and partnerships are a natural part of the work.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• A higher education degree focused on the cultural sector or other education deemed relevant by the employer
• Experience in qualified work within the cultural sector
• Leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written form
• Good digital competence and experience in digital development
• A valid driver’s license (B category).
Experience in leading managers and/or working in a politically governed organization is considered highly advantageous for this position.
