**JOB DESCRIPTION**
As the Head of the Streets and Parks Department, you will lead the department's operations and be responsible for personnel, finances, and projects. You will have direct leadership over a team of employees with roles such as gardener, construction worker, engineer, and coordinator. In your role, you will ensure high quality in the operation and maintenance of the municipality's streets, parks, and other public environments, while also planning and following up on operations based on the department's operational plan and the municipality's overall goals and budget.
You will participate in strategic development work and contribute expertise in infrastructure, street and park management, collaborating with other departments, contractors, and citizens to create attractive and sustainable solutions. Your responsibilities will include managing and developing the municipality's road network, ensuring road maintenance, and creating safety in public environments such as parks, squares, and pedestrian and bicycle paths.
As the department head, you will also be part of the management team and work closely with the municipal manager and the political leadership of the production committee.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in a field relevant to the role, or other experience that the employer considers equivalent and suitable.
- Documented experience in personnel management, preferably in a leadership position.
- Experience working with finances, budgeting, and follow-up.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety issues and experience ensuring a safe work environment.
- Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
- A valid driver's license (B category) as the position involves travel within the municipality.
- Experience leading operations with both technical and practical staff.
- The ability to plan, organize, and follow up on operations based on the operational plan and goals.
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is confident in their leadership, structured, and administratively skilled in their working methods, with a strong commitment to developing the operations in collaboration with others.
**Meritorious**
It is an advantage if you have several years of experience as a manager in complex organizations and documented experience in any of the department's areas of responsibility, such as the operation and maintenance of streets, parks, or public environments. Experience in leading change initiatives, developing processes, and streamlining operations is also valuable, as is experience working in a politically governed organization.
Additional merits include knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues, an understanding of the early stages of the community building process, and experience speaking in front of larger groups.
Experience working with development projects, innovation, or nature conservation close to urban areas may also give you an advantage.
