About this role

Department of Research and Collaboration Support is part of the central operational support at Stockholm University. Are you ready for an exciting leadership assignment in a complex and stimulating academic environment? We are now seeking an engaged and experienced leader for the Department of Research and Collaboration Support. The department's responsibilities include: supporting operations regarding applications and approved externally funded projects, research ethics issues, research infrastructure matters, innovation and collaboration, and coordination of Stockholm Trio's Brussels office. The department's mandate also includes contract processes and signing agreements by delegation. Within all parts of the department's mandate, support is provided to university management through documentation and analyses, and proactively informing teachers/researchers about current and upcoming calls for proposals. The assignment encompasses support, advisory, preparation, investigation, and coordination within the department's areas of responsibility. You will encounter high competence and great commitment in an operation that continuously develops. The department is divided into three sections, each led by a section head: Contract and Project Management, Research Financing and Ethics, and Collaboration and Innovation Support. 32 people work at the department. Job Responsibilities You will plan, lead, develop, and follow up the department's operations in continuous dialogue with other activities. You will develop and maintain a broad contact network within the university. You are also expected to actively collaborate with other higher education institutions, research funders, and actors within the research and innovation system. The department's responsibilities tangentially relate to work conducted in other parts of the university administration. An important task is therefore to contribute to developing collaboration across departmental boundaries to ensure that the university administration collectively offers the best possible research and innovation support. You will report directly to the University Director and be part of the university administration's management group. Qualifications We are seeking someone who has: - Doctoral degree - Extensive experience in management and leadership within a large and complex organization - Documented experience in leading operational development - Documented experience and knowledge of the higher education sector, its governance and operations - Multiple years of experience working with research support and assisting researchers in financing issues - Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written Meritorious: - Experience leading through other managers - Experience from work, assignment, or position with a research funder - Experience with research, collaboration, and/or innovation in an international context Personal Qualities As head of the Department of Research and Collaboration Support, you need to possess an excellent ability to communicate both individually and in larger groups, and represent the operation both internally and externally. You create engagement, participation, and inspire a solution-oriented approach. You have an ability to overview complex contexts. You are also a recognized skilled leader with the ability to work strategically, with an eye for how the operation you lead can contribute to developing the organization as a whole. You are expected to have a great understanding of, and significant knowledge about, research conditions, research financing, innovation, and collaboration in a broad sense, both nationally and internationally. As a manager, you have high trust in your employees, delegate and follow up with clarity, and care about a good work environment. To succeed in the role, it is important to build trustful relationships with all parts of the university. As a person, you are courageous, attentive, and have the ability to create a good work climate where employees thrive and develop. The many contact surfaces require that you are collaboration-oriented and without prestige. Having good judgment in actions, decisions, and statements is seen as an important cornerstone for this position. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. About the Position The position is ongoing full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual wage-setting. Start date according to agreement.
