AkzoNobel Adhesives has been manufacturing wood adhesives and resin systems in Kristinehamn since 1962.
The products are used in the production of furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and load-bearing structures, among other applications. AkzoNobel Adhesives is primarily a production facility where our employees hold various roles, including process operators, logistics and service operators, as well as a range of support functions within R&D, engineering, quality, and customer service. From the factory in Kristinehamn, large volumes of wood adhesives and resins are delivered to customers around the world.

What will you be working on?
As an automation engineer at AkzoNobel Adhesives, you will be a driving force in the company’s technical development and automation initiatives. You will lead exciting projects where you plan, implement, and modernize automation solutions, while also serving as the key contact for suppliers and external stakeholders. Your contributions will make production more efficient, safe, and future-proof through smart systems and optimized processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and driving automation projects from concept and planning to execution and follow-up.
- Developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC and DCS systems for maximum operational reliability.
- Acting as the company’s point of contact with suppliers and external stakeholders in automation.
- Planning and implementing hardware and software for modern DCS systems.
- Administering and maintaining servers and systems related to automation solutions.
- Documenting drawings and updating archives, as well as ensuring that processes comply with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
- Advising on technical equipment, procurement, and server agreements, as well as initiating actions in case of disruptions.

The position is a permanent full-time role with immediate start. You will be based at our site in Kristinehamn and report to the Engineering Manager. On-call duty may be required.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with an engineering degree in automation or electrical engineering, with several years of experience in control and regulation technology and programming of DCS systems, preferably with a focus on Delta V. You are fundamentally a programmer, experienced in troubleshooting and optimizing both DCS and PLC systems, and driven by the desire to automate and modernize existing equipment.
You possess strong analytical skills, are solution-oriented, and can work independently while collaborating cross-functionally. Good communication skills in Swedish and English are essential. Experience with ABB 800xA Freelance, project management in automation, work in the chemical process industry, or IT security related to industrial control systems is an advantage.
