Do you want to help develop technical solutions that make a real difference in society? Are you a creative problem-solver who enjoys driving ideas from concept to reality? Then you could be our new Automation Specialist!
About the Position
As an Automation Specialist, you will have a key role in ensuring efficient, secure, and future-proof automation solutions for our critical societal operations.
The role is new and provides you with space to influence and build something new. Therefore, there is no detailed roadmap; instead, you will be the one prioritizing, initiating, and driving development forward. You will do this as part of an engaged team where solution architects and security functions are important collaborators. Currently, we are in the process of implementing a new SCADA system, where you will have significant responsibility for both configuration and further development. There are many technical challenges to tackle, both large and small. This can involve anything from creating smart notifications in our monitoring systems to building intelligent solutions that facilitate work for both colleagues and customers. With us, you will receive great trust, great freedom, and a great opportunity to make an impact.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will both work operationally with the operation and maintenance of automation systems and contribute to the development and standardization of our technical solutions. Your main tasks are to:
- Drive requirements, design, functionality, and standardization of control and automation systems
- Program and configure PLC and SCADA systems for water and wastewater and pneumatic waste collection facilities
- Prioritize and independently lead improvement initiatives within automation and OT
- Responsible for OT system operations and maintenance, including monitoring, patch management, and secure IT environment integration
- Develop structures for data storage and software management in automation systems
- Identify shortcomings in existing solutions and find new creative ways to solve problems
- Document system changes, create drawings, and maintain change logs
- Work closely with operations, water and wastewater engineers, and security functions to ensure well-functioning and secure systems
- Actively work with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, such as NIS, in close collaboration with the security manager
- Contribute to vendor selection and manage contacts with external parties
- Monitor and stay updated on technological developments in automation
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
- Has a university degree or equivalent competence in electrical engineering or automation
- Experience programming and configuring SCADA and PLC systems
- Good knowledge of IT/OT integration and relevant communication protocols
- Knowledge of cybersecurity in industrial environments, risk management, and regulatory requirements
- Good computer skills and proficiency in Swedish and basic English
Experience in water and wastewater, pneumatic waste collection, or IT operations is meritorious.
Personal Qualities
To thrive in the role, you need to be a creative and solution-oriented person who enjoys tackling both large and small technical challenges. You are self-driven, structured, and able to independently prioritize and drive your work forward. Since the role is new and you will be the only one in the function, a strong personal drive and initiative are required. You see what needs to be done and take responsibility for finding smart, sustainable solutions.
You communicate clearly and collaborate well with other parts of the organization. At the same time, you have a strategic mindset and understand how technical decisions impact the overall long-term picture. Your work is characterized by commitment, curiosity, structure, and a great interest in improving the organization.
Our Offer
Here, you will work with approximately 50 engaging employees who enjoy working together. For us, it is important to be able to combine work and private life with room for your priorities. We have a work culture where we help and support each other, and we are convinced that a functioning cycle is the key to a sustainable future. You will become an important part of the company's future, where you have the opportunity to influence, create structure, and build something new while contributing to a sustainable and functioning society.
