About this role
**Department of Plastic Surgery and Oral Surgery**
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both significant challenges and amazing events, in a strong community with colleagues. See glimpses of our reality in our photo exhibition: akademiskafotoutstallning.se. We welcome your application!
**Our Operations**
Within the field of plastic and oral surgery, a large portion of the hospital's highly specialized national and regional care is provided in close collaboration between different specialties. The entire department has nearly 200 employees. Our operations are quality certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and SS-EN 15224:2012. The oral surgery section is a multidisciplinary workplace with over 45 employees specializing in oral surgery, orofacial medicine, jaw and facial radiology, and jaw orthopedics.
We offer a full range of oral surgical treatments, including facial trauma, jaw joint, anomaly and reconstructive surgery, as well as dentoalveolar surgery, including dental implants. Our patients are cared for in a plastic and oral surgery department where the oral surgeon has sole medical responsibility for their own patients. The section conducts research in active collaboration with Uppsala University and several international partners in academia and industry.
**Your Mission**
As a dental assistant with us, you will work at the pinnacle of your competence. You are expected to take considerable personal responsibility both during regular hours and during on-call hours, always supported by experienced specialists. You will primarily work with dentoalveolar surgery and day on-call duties; however, as deemed appropriate, you will also have the opportunity to participate in more highly specialized care. On-call duties during inconvenient hours (evenings, nights, and weekends) are included in the position.
**Your Qualifications**
We are looking for someone who wants to take the next step in their development towards a future career in oral surgery. You are a licensed dentist with at least two years of full-time general service. You should have a documented interest in oral surgery. Additional medical training is an advantage.
**Your Skills**
Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities; we require you to be self-driven, structured, and possess good collaboration skills as teamwork, including with other medical specialties, occurs daily. We want you to be mature, aware of your own limitations, and at the same time have a strong interest in continuously developing your skills. Proficiency in Swedish is an absolute requirement.
**We Offer**
We offer a fixed-term full-time position initially, possibly part-time, for 6 months. For the right candidate, there is then an opportunity for extension, but capped at a maximum of 1 year. Start date according to agreement.
With us, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
