About this role
Make a difference. Every day.
Are you attracted to a workplace where community, development, and job satisfaction are at the center? Do you have a genuine interest in collaboration and working closely with other professions? Then you could be our next occupational therapist!
The area of operation (VO) for emergency care and internal medicine belongs to Skåne University Hospital (Sus) and operates in both Lund and Malmö, with its own rehabilitation unit comprising 47 employees. Currently, 20 occupational therapists work here alongside physiotherapists and social workers.
In Lund, we are nine proactive occupational therapists who work in a team with doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, social workers, and nursing assistants.
We staff the emergency department, two medical wards, the Clinical Education Department (KUA), the Acute Ward (AVA), Sus Hospital at Home (SSH), and the medical outpatient/day care unit. We rotate within the Lund operation, providing opportunities for breadth and variation over time through work in both outpatient and inpatient care as well as in the patient’s home environment. Here, you will meet patients with various diagnoses and health conditions. On the wards, you primarily encounter older patients with multiple health issues, where the most common diagnoses include COPD, heart failure, infections, and cognitive impairment. In the emergency department, you will meet patients of different ages who require activity/function assessments to support the physician's decisions regarding safe discharge or admission.
Since the launch of SSH Lund in the autumn of 2023, we have successfully worked to develop this new form of care in collaboration with municipalities in central Skåne. The occupational therapist plays a key role in creating and adapting safe care and rehabilitation for patients in their own home environment. This includes activity assessments and the prescription/trial of assistive devices, as well as adjustments to the living environment to facilitate the patient's daily life and promote independence.
We are a constantly evolving organization where the skills of occupational therapists are valuable and in demand!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In the role of occupational therapist, your work is characterized by personal responsibility, participation, and teamwork. Your tasks involve activity/function assessments and interventions in consultation with the patient, both independently and in close collaboration with physiotherapists. Together, you have important roles in the interdisciplinary team with a person-centered approach to provide the best possible care for the patient. The work also involves collaboration with the municipality and primary care to ensure a good care experience and safe discharge for the patient. Additionally, you are interested in working on development projects such as new approaches to acute hospital care at home.
We strive for a workplace where every employee is active in their own learning and has a desire to contribute to driving the organization forward. Together, we work to continuously improve, and we value initiative and innovative thinking. We operate on the concept that employees are gradually given opportunities to establish, broaden, and sharpen their competencies within the various areas of our extensive operations. You will work daytime from Monday to Friday and will also have shifts every seventh Saturday between 07:30 and 14:00. For Saturday work, you will receive a day off in compensation.
As a new employee with us, we offer you an individually tailored introduction to our operations and mentorship from an experienced colleague.

Your personal qualities are significant for the position, and we are looking for someone with a strong ability to collaborate, communicate, and promote a good working environment. To succeed in the role, you should have good empathetic skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. You possess a rehabilitative perspective and can plan and prioritize while being able to quickly adapt to the needs of the organization for the day. It is important to collaborate with various professional groups and maintain a holistic view with the patient at the center.
