The Rehabilitation Medicine unit in Ystad serves all inpatient departments at Ystad Hospital. The responsibilities also include rehabilitation within specialized outpatient care and specialized day rehabilitation at the hospital. The unit consists of approximately 40 employees from various professions, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nursing assistants, and nurses. We work in teams with other professionals across the hospital's different departments and clinics. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are looking for an occupational therapist with knowledge, experience, and interest in surgery and orthopedics. The position is based in the surgical department with some duties in orthopedics and work on the ward with planned surgeries. The team includes an experienced occupational therapist, physiotherapist colleagues, and a social worker. Here, you will contribute your expertise to help surgical patients regain their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL). You will conduct ADL assessments, cognitive assessments, evaluate the need for assistive devices during both inpatient care and after discharge from the hospital, as well as training to help the patient regain their functions. The work is based on a person-centered approach. You will actively work towards ensuring a good care experience and a safe discharge for the patient through close collaboration with municipalities and primary care, playing a crucial role in the discharge process. The work is independent but involves very close collaboration with physiotherapists, social workers, nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, and the responsible SVU (Specialized Care Unit) staff in the department. If necessary, you will work with other departments in the hospital. Supervision of students may be included in the role. Weekend work is part of the position. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome you as a licensed occupational therapist with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills corresponding to at least level C1 in Swedish according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. We would also like you to have further education in either surgery or orthopedics. Basic computer skills and experience with the Melior journal system are desirable. To thrive in this job, you need to have good collaboration and communication skills, be flexible, and have the ability to take initiative and independently plan, assess, and evaluate your occupational therapy interventions. The work requires a professional approach and an aptitude for prioritizing and organizing tasks, as well as the ability to make quick decisions.
