About this role
**Paramedicine Sörmland, Mälarsjukhuset Eskilstuna**
**About Us**
The Occupational Therapy Department at Mälarsjukhuset provides rehabilitation in both outpatient and inpatient care. Working in inpatient care is rewarding but can also be demanding, as we play a crucial role in the discharge process. The occupational therapist group operates from shared facilities with physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants, ensuring that colleagues are always nearby for questions, reflection, support, or assistance in daily tasks.
We are currently seeking an individual with a particular interest in neurological rehabilitation within the inpatient department. The position is located in the stroke unit, where you will work alongside three other occupational therapists, one of whom is part of the external stroke team.
**Your Responsibilities**
As an occupational therapist in the stroke unit, you will meet patients with stroke symptoms, confirmed strokes, and patients with other neurological conditions. You will conduct initial stroke assessments to determine the need for further evaluation and rehabilitation. You will also perform structured assessments of both personal and instrumental activities of daily living (p-ADL and i-ADL), cognitive abilities, and hand and arm function. Based on your assessments, you will draw conclusions regarding the rehabilitation needs of the patient.
The unit cares for various neurological patients with differing needs. Some patients require short-term interventions and assessments before discharge, while others have a longer-term need for inpatient rehabilitation before being discharged. Assessment, prescription, and fitting of assistive devices are also among the most common tasks. Home visits may occur as part of the rehabilitation process.
We support each other across departmental boundaries, allowing you to gain insight and experience working in other departments.
**Your Qualifications**
You are a licensed occupational therapist. You possess strong collaborative skills, as you will work in a team with physiotherapists, speech therapists, dietitians, social workers, nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors. Collaboration also occurs externally, for example, with occupational therapists or case managers in municipal services. You are flexible and adaptable to the demands of the situation. You are also structured and responsible for your tasks. We prefer candidates who are confident in their role and possess good self-awareness. Since home visits may occur, a valid driver's license (category B) is desirable.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
**We Offer:**
- Wellness allowance (5000 SEK for the year 2025).
- Flexible working hours with a flex-time agreement.
- Opportunities for professional development.
- Friendly and experienced colleagues and supervisors.
