Do you thrive on variety in your work, problem-solving, and development tasks in your daily routine? Are you passionate about helping individuals achieve a meaningful everyday life by creating opportunities for them to live as independently and actively as possible? Then this is the workplace for you! We are now looking for an additional occupational therapist to join our team.
About Us
The rehab team in Sala Municipality is a wonderful and ambitious group consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation assistants. We are responsible for rehabilitation efforts for patients in ordinary housing (home healthcare/home rehabilitation), in short-term units, in special accommodations, and within the area of disabilities. We are a relatively large workgroup of about 27 employees, which is further divided into smaller teams based on operational areas. What unites us all is our strong commitment to ensuring that the municipality's residents receive the best possible care based on their individual needs, goals, and circumstances. By sharing ideas, thoughts, and experiences with one another, we constantly seek improvements and see opportunities in the challenges we face. You will be offered a positive and secure work environment with many engaged and knowledgeable colleagues! We actively work to ensure good and safe care for our patients according to the municipality's values: Simple - Efficient - Citizen-friendly.
Your Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist, you will be part of a team alongside physiotherapists, nurses, rehabilitation assistants, and care staff, responsible for activity assessments and occupational therapy interventions, such as training and assistive device prescriptions, for the municipality's residents who require rehabilitation services in their own homes. You will also collaborate closely with unit managers and coordinators, case managers, and external actors such as primary care and inpatient care. There are great opportunities for exchanging experiences and receiving assistance when needed, as you have daily contact with your colleagues in the rehab team. Sharing premises with the region's rehab staff at Sala Hospital also facilitates knowledge exchange and collaboration during patient discharge from the care department.
Through a person-centered approach, you will plan and conduct occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and follow-ups based on the individual's personal goals and circumstances. Your work will always focus on preserving and enhancing the person's abilities to live as active, meaningful, and independent a life as possible. You will independently plan your workday but will also closely collaborate with a physiotherapy colleague. Together with the unit manager and other colleagues, you will also participate in the quality and development work of the organization. In addition to patient-related tasks, your responsibilities will also include supporting, guiding, and to some extent educating care staff on functional and activity-preserving methods, transfer knowledge, and assistive device management. You may also be involved in supervising students from the occupational therapy program at Uppsala University.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a licensed occupational therapist, preferably with a couple of years of experience in the field. Previous experience in municipal elderly care, special accommodations, or home rehabilitation is advantageous, as is having prescribing rights for assistive devices in Västmanland. Further education in areas such as geriatrics, dementia, or other relevant qualifications deemed suitable by the employer is also a plus. You are engaged in your work, enjoy collaborating, have a good demeanor, and possess strong communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues, and others. The tasks are varied and of different natures, which requires you to be responsible, structured, flexible, and solution-focused.
What You Will Receive
We want you to feel comfortable and well at our organization, which is why Sala Municipality offers several benefits to you as an employee. We are very keen on providing you with a good and individually tailored introduction, and besides friendly colleagues and a varied job, you will receive:
• Flexible working hours
• Wellness allowance of 2000 SEK/year or the option to exchange the wellness allowance for a health examination
• Opportunity for vacation and salary exchange
• Possibility to work remotely for certain periods
• Opportunities for professional development during work hours
