About this role

Area of Operation: Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Pain Center We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and wonderful events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se. We welcome your application! Our Operations The Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Pain Center consists of four sections: Health Professions, Geriatrics, Pain Center, and Rehabilitation Medicine. All sections are characterized by well-functioning interprofessional collaboration, which we are very proud of. We want you to feel welcome with us; as a newcomer, you will be offered guidance, an introductory program, and professional networks. We are experts in rehabilitation but always strive to improve. A significant focus on research and progress, both within and outside the hospital, is part of this. As an employee, you are an important part of this; it is natural for you to want to develop and drive the operations forward. We are now looking for an occupational therapist who wants to work with us in the Health Professions department within geriatrics. The position is within the inpatient care of geriatrics and is divided between two departments with close collaboration, which means close collegial exchange and support. Your Mission You will work with occupational therapy assessment and treatment based on the occupational therapy process. Your primary placement will be in the ortho-geriatric department 30B, but you will also be introduced to geriatric acute care. In the department, you will be one of two occupational therapists and part of a skilled health professional team consisting of physiotherapists, dietitians, and social workers who support and assist each other while you will also work independently. You have an important task to assess, initiate rehabilitation, and report to the next level of care. Together with the team, you will assess and train the patient's activity and functional ability as well as cognition. The testing and prescription of assistive devices are also part of your responsibilities. The geriatrics department provides broad care and treatment ranging from acute management to rehabilitation and discharge planning. Here, elderly patients over 65 years old are treated, often with multiple underlying conditions. In the ortho-geriatric department, patients are treated following orthopedic surgery, both elective and trauma surgery, as well as vascular surgery. The work will also involve close contact with patients and their relatives, staff, and other partners, which places high demands on collaboration skills, communication, and flexibility. As we are a university hospital, all positions include mentoring our future colleagues who are in training. Your Qualifications We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist. If you have previous experience working in geriatrics or orthopedics, we value that, but we also welcome newly graduated candidates. We offer, for example, individual clinical supervision. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. You should have a good ability to collaborate unconditionally with different professions, possess good organizational skills, be able to express yourself well in speech and writing, and have an interest in development work. You should feel comfortable making independent decisions and prioritizing among tasks. We Offer We offer a permanent position at 100% with a start date according to agreement. As an occupational therapist with us, you will be part of a professional network at the hospital and have opportunities for further development both internally and externally. A probationary period may apply. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
