Occupational Health and Safety Specialist for the Swedish Transport Administration in Stockholm

Assignment
Responsible for interpreting, implementing, and following the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations in construction and infrastructure projects, focusing on safe work environments in complex road facilities. The role involves driving occupational health and safety work, conducting risk analyses, training personnel, supporting contractors, and creating, monitoring, and approving occupational health and safety plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and implement the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations for construction and infrastructure work, particularly for complex road facilities, ensuring compliance with the Work Environment Act.
- Lead and drive occupational health and safety work from procurement to operation and management, including follow-up and development of safety measures throughout the project.
- Serve as an expert and support contractors to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements during installation and operation of complex road facilities.
- Ensure project managers and key personnel are informed about new safety regulations and provide training during legislative changes.
- Create and continuously update occupational health and safety plans for operation, maintenance, and construction projects in complex road facilities.
- Review and approve occupational health and safety plans to ensure they meet the Transport Administration's requirements and safety regulations.
- Follow up and report incidents and accidents, and propose measures to prevent similar events.
- Participate in construction meetings and conduct field inspections (partially at night) to ensure proper implementation of safety plans.
- Conduct regular safety rounds and workplace follow-ups, identifying occupational health risks to ensure actions are taken to improve workplace environment and safety.
- Serve as the designated contact person for occupational health and safety issues during traffic closures (at night), ensuring safety requirements are met and reporting any risks or incidents in the Synergi system.
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
- At least five (5) years of experience applying and following the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations on construction and infrastructure work (AFS1993:3 and later AFS2023:3).
- At least three (3) years of experience developing and establishing occupational health and safety plans for construction and infrastructure projects.
- At least three (3) years of experience working with occupational health and safety issues in contract work, particularly in infrastructure projects.
- At least three (3) years of experience independently driving and leading occupational health and safety work in construction and infrastructure projects.
- Approved training in BAS-P and BAS-U according to Transport Administration guidelines.
- Valid Class B driver's license.
- Approved Training in Road Work (APV) Level 3, according to Transport Administration regulations.
- At least three (3) years of experience conducting risk analyses and safety rounds on construction sites.
